PROGRAMMES WITH DENIED ACCREDITATION STATUS IN THE NIGERIAN

UNIVERSITY SYSTEM

The National Universities Commission, in line with its statutory mandate, have conducted accreditation
exercises of the Nigerian University System since 1990. The most recent exercises were held in 2007 and
2008. A list of programmes which earned DENIED Accreditation Status in these, and previous exercises
which have not been revisited, are herewith listed.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), prospective candidates and the general public are
hereby notified of the DENIED accreditation status of these programmes and also the cessation of
admission into the affected programmes with effect !Tom the 2008/2009, and 2009/20 10 admission exercise
respectively.

In line with the provisions of the Accreditation Manual, the embargo on admissions into these programmes will
be lifted when they are re-evaluated by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and have attained
acceptable accreditation status.
The affected universities are hereby advised not to advertise or admit students into the DENIED programmes as
defaulting Universities will be sanctioned appropriately. For the avoidance of doubt, no candidate should
patronize any of the denied programmes in any of the universities listed above.

List of Universities Operating Illegally in Nigeria*

The National Universities Commission (NUC) wishes to announce to the general public,
especially parents and prospective undergraduates that the under-listed "Universities" have
not been licensed by the Federal Government and are, therefore, operating illegally in
violation of Education (National Minimum Standards etc) Act CAP E3 Law of the
Federation of Nigeria 2004. The "Universities" are:

For the avoidance of doubt , anybody who patronises or obtains any certificate from any of these illegal institutions
does so at his or her own risk. Certificates obtained from these sources will not be recognized for the purposes of
NYSC, employment, and further studies. The relevant Law enforcement agencies have also been informed for their
further neces sary action.
