Black Unity Movement

by Mosi Ngozi
Black Unity Movement was born around late June. of 2005.There was to much disuni
ty and a whole lot of dysfunction, and disinformation that was being spread in a
ll communities of colour and it was out of control.I just got tired of seeing fr
iends and family going to jail and dying because of gang colours. And the truth b
e told listening to the nightly news and watching and listening to news anchors
literally laugh in my face as they described how our babies were being killed in
drive by shootingz.
It really hurt to see the drug boys take over certain neighborhoods and rule the
m with fear and intimidation and an iron fist with a appetite for destruction. P
lease don't get me wrong i have done alot of dirt in my day but i had to grow up
and pay for some of those indiscretions.Let me make this clear from the start t
hat Black Unity Movement is not or never will be a racist group, but was started
out with an undying love and admiration of all thingz Afrikan (black) with respe
ct and honour to all people of colour wherever you may reside in this world that
is trying with all their might to destroy us with blatant acts of genocide and
murder on a daily basis.
Being a person of colour is an honour, for if you are true to your roots and ou
r story not the Ethnocentric theory of their made up and stolen history (our st
ory) that they were the 1st people to grace this big beautiful plant. That is an
out and lie.Do the research and find out for yourself for the truth is out there
right up under you noses. I may make myself a few more enemies for what i have
said in the last paragraph, but the truth be told oh well so be it i came in this
world with a target on my back so there is no fear in my heart.
What is unity? Unity is power! Unity is when people of color come together and s
et aside their personal agendas and perceived differences and take on a common g
oal.
Working together as one, looking past narrow horizons and bringing about changes
for the greater good of the people. Knowing what works for the people through t
he unified minds and bodies, aching as one to promote the happiness for all us o
ppressed people of colour the world over.To make u-n-i-t-y a reality we as indiv
iduals must begin to work in the communities in which we live, work and raise our
children and come to understand that from time to time we have to periodically
manifest change in self with fresh new ideas to move our cause 4ver forward and
never backwards. And with that being said with yours,my own community we will se
e and learn what is wrong with society.
Then we can form a way to learn to break the mental shackles that have been plac
ed upon us since birth.Yet you must realize that the enemy does not want you to
free your mind ever. For then you will look for others that have their 3 eye ope
n and begin to work together aiding and giving assistance to each other trying t
o not just improve the way of live in your community and as your community start
s to prosper in positive ways you know now that the World stage is next to toppl
e. Education is the beginning of change for people of colour and revolution is t
hat change.
Disinformation is not and can not be considered unity. We are to teach each other
a little at a time for we do not want to cause information overload. So be sure
to remember that all involved will have different theories. We must be open to di
fferent theories, practices and how we study and this not an overnight transforma
tion, but is a lifetime of daily learning and growing and mentoring. This must be
said we must make sure there is no confusion or allow for confusion to set in a
nd disturb our efforts of study or the research that must be done.
Unity is coming to the aid of another when that one is lost, lonely and or deaf,d
umb and blind to the truth, it is your duty to step in and turn this lost soul a
round and try to help them overstand the reality that we are at war. We are unde
r a shy-stem that is aggressive in their methods of repression, intimidation and
justification for lack of respect for people of colour.
We must also remind self that we are in a struggle for survival of self and futu
re generations of people of colour. Our liberation is a must as is the air we bre
ath.Unity means to free the mind, body, soul and essence.Unity brings power when y
ou have numbers of people all on the same page believing in freedom, justice, equa
lity and truth.Do not forget that there will be those that believe that ignoranc
e is bliss,so it is a part of our duty to our people to try and those in the dar
kness out in the light of knowing.
If my assessment is correct than you need more than one person to create a socie
ty,and it takes massive numbers of people of colour to build a nation. Then ther
e must be unity and unity must be maintained to have a strong nation.
Black Unity Movement's Aims & Objectives and Guidelines.
The philosophy of reform the whole history of progress of human liberty shows th
at all concessions have been made from Ernest struggle if there is no struggle,
there is no progress. If there is no pain there is no growth. Our struggle is a
moral one, and a physical one but it is a struggle. Indeed, we are taught power
concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out jus
t what people will submit to and you have found the exact amount of injustice an
d wrong which will be imposed upon them and these will continue until they resis
tant with either words or blows or with both, the limits of tyrants are prescrib
ed by the endurance of those whom they oppress. Frederick Douglass taught us tha
t in 1849 where are we in 2011.

This new phase in Black Unity is founded on three principles for people to organ
ize effectively for social and economic justice. We must 1. Win real improvement
in the people’s lives. 2. Get a sense of their own power. 3. Alter the relations
of power. The Black Unity program is premised on grassroots organizing block by
block and house by house and networking across many different kinds of organizat
ions in which activists could share their experience develop relationships and s
hape a vision not bound by the limitations of anyone form of organizing.
The common thread connecting all of Black Unity’s work is the value placed on indi
viduals so they can build a powerful family life, business life and community li
fe, that works for a more just society in which we all can be free justified and
equal.

Today it is clear that the right wing economic policies have failed! Getting gov
ernment off our backs and freeing business to do its job merrily intensify the l
oss of our industries and farms and increase their replacement with new low-wage
jobs while the right wing destroys environmental protections. It is toxic chemi
cals, nuclear waste, pesticide, sewage and garbage ruin the quality of life in o
ur communities across the country. Deregulation of the airlines leads to higher
fares, worse service and unsafe flights. Deregulated banks collapse in huge numb
ers and require massive bailouts with public money. Unbridled, unregulated and u
nchecked greed on Wall Street, brings on an orgy of speculation. Corporations ar
e allowed to become truly transnational and while they flood our markets with fo
reign products. There is no requirement that they put back into this economy wha
t it takes out. Poverty goes unabated, homelessness, hunger, and inequality rise
.
The election in 2008 was a historical event, but if truth be told, it was nothin
g more than a good drama on the TV screen. You had your high points and you have
your low points you had your funny moments and your sad moments with the electi
on of President Barrack Obama we thought a new day has come to us, but it didn’t w
e got more of the same and worse recently. He talked about reading 10 letters a
day from poor American citizens and unfortunately his new thought is I can’t run t
he country by their needs. He said “ my job is to make sure we are focus over the
long term make sure we are in a direction that we need to go. The most important
things I can do as President is make sure we are living within our means gettin
g a budget that is sustainable, investing in our future and growing the economy
if I can do that, that is probably the most help I can give the number of people”.
He gave that answer to the question “ Your cuts to programs that poor people need
are hard on them do you feel their pain?” He also said “ their letter’s inspire me” I g
uess they were so good it made him give the rich more tax cuts and cut programs
for the poor.

We must understand the time and what must be done. What must be done is clearer
NOW than at any time within living memory. *We must control our own educational
system from pre-school and beyond, we will develop, a new, independent educatio
nal paradigm for our people. We must have a knowledge of self, our history, and
the best education in civilized society. We will build a skills bank, the talent
of which will be used in the development of our people. *We will establish a Bl
ack Economic Development Fund, with the support of millions, to aid in building
an economic infrastructure. We must re-conceptualize the social safety net as a
social trampoline that bounces people into the middle class. We will one day of
fer housing ownership opportunities to check the adverse tide of gentrification.
Black Unity will one day produce and distribute its own products and we now sup
ports “Buy Black” campaigns. *Black Unity will present a Preventive Health Care Pla
n to our people that will begin with a campaign to educate our people on healthy
dietary, eating and exercise habits. *We demand a greater accountability and r
esponsibility of our artists, entertainers, industry personnel and executives, f
or them to commit to the redevelopment and upliftment of our people. We demand a
n end to the exploitation of our talent by outside forces. We will make strides
in obtaining greater control over the means of production and distribution of ou
r immense artistic talent and creative genius. We advocate for cultural developm
ent, and for the knowledge of our original culture to be used as a model for fut
ure advancement. *We demand freedom for all political prisoners held in U.S. pri
sons and detention facilities, both foreign and domestic. *We demand an end to p
olice brutality, mob attacks, racial profiling, the herding of our young men and
women into prisons and the biological and chemical warfare perpetrated against
our people. *We demand full and complete Reparations for the descendants of slav
es. We demand that America take the appropriate steps to help in the repair of t
he damage done from 300 years of slavery, 100 years of segregation, and 50 plus
years of the misuse and abuse of governmental power to destroy Black organizatio
ns and leaders. *We call, first, for the unity amongst Black peoples and organiz
ations. We call for unity amongst all African peoples and peoples of African des
cent worldwide. We call for unity with our Brown, Red, disenfranchised and oppre
ssed Brothers and Sisters in America, Caribbean, Central and South America, Asia
and all over the world. “The Power of One” is the synthesis of men, women, youth an
d elders working in unity for our total liberation.

Of course there is much more, but always ask, how is what I do every day brining
it closer? These are new times. People are looking for BOLD answers and Leaders
hip. The most important question now really is, what will the new society look
like? We must dream about the kind of society we want for our children. We must
articulate a vision that is compelling for all us as a people. And we must fight
for change that leads us toward that vision.
“Many of our people s mind have been white washed. If a Negro comes up to you and
you turn your back on him, he s got to run to the honky. We re going to take tim
e and patience with our people because they re OURS!...they re OURS!”
Undying love for our people, If we do not do that, we will be wiped out. We must
develop and undying love for our people. Our slogan will become, "First our peo
ple, then, and only then me and you as individuals." Our people first..
Following from that came secondly the slogan, "Every Negro is a potential black
man; we will not alienate them! "We will not alienate them! ...We will not alien
ate them!"
"We must be willing to give our talents, our sweat, our blood, even our life for
our people. Nothing else! Not this country, OUR people! OUR people! [applause]
We must develop the concept that every Negro is a potential black man. You do no
t alienate your potential allies. Let s bring our people home! Let s bring our p
eople home! We must understand the concept that for us, the question of communit
y is not geography, it is the question of US: black people, wherever we are. So
we have to consciously become a part of the 900 million black people that are se
parated over this world. We were separated by [tape skip][the white man?]... We
are blood of the same blood and flesh of the same flesh. We do not know who is o
ur sister, who is our brother, or where we came from. They took us from Africa a
nd the put thousands of miles of water between us. But they forgot: blood is thi
cker than water. We coming together! "
--Excerpts: Kwame Ture (Stokely Carmichael), 1968 at Free Huey Rally

One must work well with others on the outside as well with those that are incarc
erated in the belly of the beast.Communication is everything and then some, for c
ommunication brings about Unity & Power. Unity & Power = a United front and that
, is the catalyst for change in any society.
Black Unity is a grassroots organization that is dedicated to the up lift meant
and total liberation of all oppressed people in the united snakes of amerikkka.
We believe that community organizing and direct action for racial and economic j
ustice should be the focal point of social and politicaly korrect activity in th
is nation. We believe that in order for us to get anything out of this democracy
. We must unite and speak with one voice to address our needs that are critical
to and for us. This is a life or death decision. We are in a catch 22 sitution t
hat has to dealt with now not later.
Black Unity will empower the oppressed and serve to protect, defend and improve
the quality of life in our communities across this nation, we must tear down all
institutional racism that is alive and well in the united snakes of amerikkka.
BU members have an opportunity to work through and with a chapter promoting loca
l issues through a committee promoting national issues or individually on issue
specific to said campaigns.
As the needs of the oppressed become greater with every year Black Unity is resp
onding to the critical concerns in our communities. Join us as we work to build
a better future for all of the oppressed in amerikkka. We believe there is stren
gth in organization and in people working together with their inherent power and
right to affect the course of their lives and surroundings. We are committed to
developing and using this power to improve the quality of life in our communiti
es.
We believe that we have the right to know about and have a voice in the developm
ents for the common good of our people. Black Unity is a lifetime leadership sch
ool. We’ve learned that together we can make changes that can’t be made alone. Futur
e generations will live and die by the decisions being made today, we must have
a very strong voice to direct those decisions in a way that is best for us.

We believe we must make a stand now or continue to suffer unjust laws, unjust tr
eatment and a unjust way of life, simply because we are a people of colour, yes w
e still are a proud people that the 1st thing on our agenda is we must stop the
genocide of all people of colour no matter where in the world they may be becaus
e we are family. It is a duty and an honour to be called upon to protect our own
and with that being said,BU is not a lifestyle it is a way of life that is dedic
ated to our honoured Ancestors that are known to us and the countless others tha
t are unknown but we love and honour them none the less.
