We have rich heritage of 85 years. Established in 1922 by Late Shri Bastiramji Sarda with presence in the bidi
industry, the Sarda Group has come a long way. Today valued at Rs. 70 crore, the Sarda Group is steered under
the inspiring leadership of his young grandson Shrirang Sarda and has a pan India presence, dishing out a variety
of products from the healthy and tasty ayurvedic beverages and chewables. The Sarda Group has successfully
forayed into diversified areas of real estate, floriculture and hospitality. Of course, rolling bidis still remains one of
our pioneering businesses. c

Beginning with a humble manpower of 3, the group has grown into a workforce of over 16000, complete with 250
production centers in one of their SBU¶s alone. The Sarda brands reach across the length and breadth of the
country through 400 distributors, available through over 45,000 retail outlets.

There are three points that differentiate us.

1.c Our pioneering and innovative initiatives in all the activities undertaken by us
2.c Our sterling reputation with all our stakeholders, and,
3.c Our acute awareness of the social context in which we operate

These three key differentiators largely represent the innovativeness that we apply in our
businesses,

the inherent and core ethical business values established by our founding fathers, and the
vision which

drives the Sarda Group.

The combination of these three makes us uniquely qualified

to do the many things we do and to offer a different level of
job/accomplishment satisfaction to our team and partners.

Giving back to our employees, stakeholders and

communities enriches us with loyalty, talent and opportunity.
We believe it is the right thing to do.

We welcome all people who can contribute in our quest to c

right the wrong, to fix the structural imbalances that plague
Ý Ý Ý
our country.

The Sarda Group is managed and operated on lines of a social enterprise.

We are remaining firmly attached to the vision and values of our founding father, facilitating
as a consequence, the economic wellbeing and child welfare of our workers.

We look at the customer as an entity who monetizes the value chain... Actually, all our
businesses revolve around the worker

Given the profound social relevance of our business, we have evolved a way to quantify our
vision.
The quantification of our vision and its achievement is based on two parameters:
1) The minimum wages guidelines set by the Ministry of Labout and
2) the UNICEF yardsticks for child welfare.
A regular feedback from our workers and their families on the fulfillment of these parameters
fructifies our vision which is ably supported by the following core set of valuesc

The bidi industry impacts our economy to a large extent, yet is

somewhat misunderstood and quite unknown. Not only does the bidi
industry employ six times as many workers than its fancy cousin ±
Cigarettes ± but also quantifies to bear a tremdous socio-economic
significance in employment generation in India, yielding an average of
1310 million man days of employment.

The Indian bidi industry employs over 6 million and is worth INR 100-
150 billion «

A large part of our human resource sources its livelihood through employment in various organized and
unorganized sectors such as the cottage and agricultural industries. Nearly 70% of Indians still reside in rural areas
and are largely depend on agriculture for survival and 90% of the working population in our country, especially in
rural areas, is employed by the cottage industry and which is a major source of income for them.
