Manager should be adhered to under all circumstances. Due to strict driving rules, time
management is of utmost importance to ensure that all services are covered as per
schedule
DON'TS:
? Do not keep your money, credit cards, travellers cheques in one wallet or purse –
disperse them so one theft won't leave you totally penniless
? Do not get into any unnecessary quarrel or contradictions with the locals
? Do not leave your valuables open in your hotel room
? Do not consume alcohol during the sightseeing tours
? Do not - try to break queues, bargain in fixed price shops, littering, jay walking and
misusing hotel amenities. When in a foreign country, we represent India and these are
some of the actions that may be considered inappropriate
BAGGAGE
? Please tag your bags for easy identification
? Extra care to be taken of your baggage in crowded places like stations, restaurants and
sightseeing spots
? Please carry very light luggage with you to avoid excess baggage charges
? Take care of your own baggage while check-in and check-out at the airport and hotel
? Please ensure that you carry at least 2 photocopies of all the documents i.e. Passport
including all the relevant Visa pages, Air Ticket, Traveller cheques, Insurance policy if
any and Credit Cards. In case of loss / theft / damage it will be easier to take care of the
matter. A copy of the entire set should also be left behind with relatives / friends in India.
? As not many people understand English in Thailand, do collect a Hotel Address Card,
which will have the Hotel Address in Local Thai Language which will be of great help to
you in case you get lost.
? Carry enough money for per day expenses
? We recommend that you change the money at banks or foreign exchange bureaus as
they give a better rate than hotels. A passport is necessary for encasing traveller’s
cheques. In most countries, one has to pay a commission charge for money exchange
? To call India, you have to first dial the International Access Code that is 00, followed by
the Country Code which is 91, followed by the area/city code which in case of Delhi is
11, followed by the telephone number.
? The check-in time at Hotels is usually 1400 hours and check-out time is 1200 hours
? Take care of the hotel property to avoid penalty, which is very harsh. When using the
Hotel services and room amenities please keep in mind that the beverages that you use
from the mini bar; telephone calls and laundry are all extras to be paid by you.

Time Off
When visiting a mosque or temple in Singapore, appropriate clothing should be worn as a sign of
respect. The entire island's main religions (Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism and Sikh) request
the removal of shoes before entering, Sikh temples prefer the head covered whilst mosques
require both men and women to cover their arms and legs.
Singapore Climate:
At one degree above the equator, the climate in Singapore is typically tropical; hot and humid
throughout the year. The temperature usually hovers around 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees
Fahrenheit) with 75 per cent humidity. Rainfall is slightly higher during the winter with a monthly
average of 260 millimeters (10 inches) and summer months averaging 170 millimeters (six and a
half inches).
CLIMATE
Singapore is subjected to a tropical climate and is usually quite hot & humid, with very sunny
spells. There is no marked wet or dry season and rain may fall all year round.
Clothing: Informal lightweight or tropical wear any time of the year. In some Hotels or
Restaurants Jackets & Ties may be required. Light rainwear, waterproof clothing may be
necessary.

INTERNAL TRAVEL
CAR HIRE: There are agencies at the airport & at many hotels. Surcharges are applicable for
cars taken out of Singapore. Car Hire is limited to drivers over the age of 21-23 & under the age
of 60 years.
TAXI: Taxis are abundant in the city & display a sign on their roofs. Blue signs denote Air
Conditioned taxis. Smoking is not allowed in Air Conditioned taxis. A heavy fine is imposed if
doing so. Meters are used, fares charged by distance.
BUS: Fast, cheap & efficient. Operate between 0600 – 2330 hrs. there is a shuttle service every
10 minutes in the central district, operates 0910 – 1700 hrs weekdays; 0910-1230 & 1530-2000
hrs on Saturdays; No Sunday service
SUBWAY: There is a rapid transport system or subway which is fast & efficient connecting the
central shopping & business districts & most satellite towns.

Singapore is a shopper's paradise with merchandise from every corner of the globe. From small
shop houses to multi-storey department stores, you can find some of the best buys in the world at
very competitive prices. A staggering array of designer merchandise, arts & crafts, electronic
goods, cameras, jewelry, watches, pewter ware & batik is available. Mid-year Great Singapore
Sale is the biggest shopping fair.

Although GST is collected on all purchases of goods and services in Singapore, you
may as a visitor to Singapore claim for refund of the GST paid on your purchases if:
You take the goods out of Singapore through Changi or Seletar Airport within 2 months
of How to apply for a refund
When you have purchased goods worth S$300 or more, ask the sales assistant for a
GST Claims Form. The sales assistant will need your passport to check your eligibility.
The form will be completed in duplicate and handed over to you.
You can accumulate the purchases to make up the minimum value of S$300 if you buy
from the same shop or outlets of the same chain. Purchases from different shops cannot
be accumulated to make up the minimum value of S$300.
Your claims form will only be processed during your departure from Changi Airport or
Seletar Airport. There are GST Refund Counters at both Terminal I and Terminal II of
Changi Airport and at the Customs office of Seletar Airport. For Changi Airport, please
proceed to the counter located before the Immigration Checkpoint if your purchases are
bulky items such as television sets. Please proceed to the counter located after the
Immigration Checkpoint if your purchases are hand-carried items. No refund can be
made without verification by Customs.
At the GST Refund Counter, Customs will verify your purchases and then stamp your
Claims Form in endorsement of your claim for refund. You should then seal each form in
the postage pre-paid and self-addressed envelope earlier provided to you by the shop
and drop it into a mailbox at the GST Refund Counter.
On receipt of the claims form which has been endorsed by Customs, the shop will mail
you a cheque made out in Singapore dollars for the amount of GST due to you. If you
have made your purchase using a credit card, the refund can be made to your credit
card or charge card. The shop may levy an administration charge but should inform you
at the time of completing the claim form.
If you do not receive your refund within 3 months of your departure from Singapore,
please contact the shop concerned.
When you shop at stores displaying the Global Refund "TAX FREE SHOPPING" logo,
ask for the Global Refund Cheque from the sales assistant. On confirmation of your
eligibility, the sales assistant will complete the Global Refund Cheque in duplicate and
hand over to you.
You spend a minimum of S$100 on goods at a shop or at different outlets of the same
retail chain displaying the logo.
Present the items purchased together with one or more completed Global Refund
Cheques upon your departure within two months from the date of purchase at the GST
Refund Counters of Terminals I or II of Changi Airport.
After obtaining the Customs endorsement on your completed Global Refund Cheque(s),
please proceed to the Cash Refund Office, which is situated inside the departure lounge
after Immigration clearance.
A cash refund, after deduction of a handling fee, will be paid to you on presenting your
Global Refund Cheque. You can also request for the refund via mail. If you do not
receive your Cheque within 4 weeks of your departure from Singapore, please contact
Global Refund Singapore Pte Ltd, 100 Cecil Street, The Globe #07-01, Singapore
069532 (http://globalrefund.com ).
? The goods and services purchased are consumed in Singapore. Examples are
entertainment expenses, medical expenses, dry cleaning, meals and beverages
or goods consumed or left behind in Singapore.
? Your purchases' total value is less than S$300 if you shop at a store displaying
the Tax Refund logo, or less than S$100 if you shop at a store displaying the Tax
Free Shopping logo.
? Goods which are not presented, with the Claims Form, at the GST Refund
Counter at Changi Airport or Seletar Airport.
Important Notes
? The Tourist Refund Scheme applies only to the Goods & Services Tax.
? If you do not see the "Tax Refund" or "Tax Free Shopping" logos on display at
the shop, verify its policy with a sales assistant first should you intend to make
purchases worth S$300 and above. Such shops either do not charge GST or if
charged, do not operate the Tourist Refund Scheme.
? You can shop tax-free at the shops in the transit area of Changi Airport on your
departure.
? The refund applies to purchases of S$300 or above made by cash, cheque or
major credit cards at stores displaying the Tax Refund logo, or S$100 at stores
displaying the Tax Free Shopping logo.
