Ghandi Paper

" An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." Ghandi wanted to get
independence for India from the British. Ghandi devised a plan to over
through the British government by bring Muslims and Hindus together in a non-
violence protest to have equality.

Ghandi was just a lawyer in southern africa. He saw that his people
were in need of help because the British government was mistreating the
people of India. Ghandi decided to go to India to help the Muslims and Hindu
people by using non-violence tactics such as a hunger strike, boycotting the
British clothes, also he asks all the workers of India to stop working and
have a feast. There non-violence acts provoked he British in a very violent
way.
One non-violent tactic that Ghandi used and worked effectively against
the British that I think was the best is the boycott one the British clothes.
Ghandi told the people of India to stop buying clothes that are only made by
the British and to start making their clothes like traditional way and to do
that he started to make his own clothes to show that he wasn't afraid. When
people saw that Ghandi made his own clothes they followed him little by
little the word started to spread out to other Hindus and Muslims. The
British thought it wasn't a problem at first because they thought that it
wasn't something they couldn't handle one british soldier controled about
2,500 Indians, but when saw that their profits in the British clothes were
going down they worried a bit and saw this as a somewhat problem. The British
reacted by passing a law called Rowlatt Acts that permitted the authorities
to act against any rebellions which sometimes lead to massacres of many
people and Ghandi was thrown in jail.

When Ghandi got out of jail he did not give up right away he planned
another protest for a long amount of time finally he came up with an idea
that was unfair to his people. He start to talk about the salt march that
happened in 1930 Ghandi marched with a small group that ended up to be
thousands that joined the cause, Ghandi had got to the beaches of India
picked up a lump of salt which was forbidden by the government for Indians to
make their own salt. Later many people heard that Ghandi was dong this and
all of India started to make their own salt and the British couldn't do
anything against it because the was no violence involved. The British
government thought that the Indians would stop if they took away their source
that was Ghandi. Ghandi was thrown in jail and that sparked a huge impact in
all of India many followed Ghandi's methods of non-violence and soon all of
India protested against the government and Ghandi's arrest. In August 15,
1948 India got it's independence from the British there was still the problem
that Hindus and Muslims were rioting against each other Ghandi start to get
them to get along become equal in this new government. January 30, 1948
Nathuram Godse, a fanatic follower of Ghandi assassinates Ghandi. All of
India was shocked and also the whole world too. At Ghandi's funeral many
followed his body and a giant ceremony was done for Ghandi thanking him for a
great accomplishment for India.
Ghandi was a great man that only started out as a lawyer in southern
Africa that saw his people we in need to be help to get equality and get
their independence from the British government. By using the non-violent
tactics to drive the British out of India he accomplished something that very
few could have ever done this inspired many around the world after Ghandi's
death. This man is what we would call a true superhero with or without super
powers you can still make a change in the world, country, and even your own
community it's just the matter if you want to try to make a difference.
