Review of previous week’s targets and progress made Standards

1) Gain more experience of teaching geography, history, RE and PSHE. Q2, Q9, Q32
2) Type a letter of introduction to the Y1 class parents.

From last weeks mentor meeting: KD and GB highlighted the need to have good
and relevant L.I’s & Steps to Success. KD advised that GB should aim to make
children aware of these throughout the lesson, not just at the start.
Reflection

 Letter typed and ready to be sent, GB taught history with elements of


geography this week, and will continue throughout this topic. L.I’s have been
taken from SB’s planning and referred to throughout the lessons taught by GB,
this referral coming sometimes at the start of a lesson, in the middle or at the
end.

Review of previous week’s observations, and adapting future planning in light of the

Greenfields a couple of months ago. This weeks discussions also reminded GB
that there is still a visit to Maplefields, Corby to re-arrange, to observe a special
school for extreme behavioural needs.

General review of the week


Another busy week in the world of a UK state school. A mixed week this week, Q1, Q2, Q7a,
GB enjoyed the ‘wow day’ and stepping in as Samuel Pepys, and taking control Q7b, Q15,
Reflection

of the class in SB’s absence on Tuesday. GB noted it was a pleasure to ‘get on Q32
with the job’ without the constant pressure of lesson obs and other formalities.
This weeks formal and observed teaching consisted of a History lesson and a
Numeracy lesson. The History was good but came out satisfactory and the
Numeracy was rushed and inadequate. Plenty of opportunity for reflection.
