Cameroon Calling
March 2011
Dear friends and family,
Thank you for all your prayers
for our travel back to Cameroon.
The weather was good for
January and, although we had to
travel through five different
airports, both we and our luggage
arrived safely in Cameroon with
no delays.
Arrival in Ndu
The day after our arrival in
Yaounde, George was already in
meetings of our Executive
committee. I (Val) did some
shopping to prepare for our
return to the village and ran
errands.
The next week we traveled
back to Ndu, enduring the rough
dirt Ring Road, so we could again
take up our assignments at the
Cameroon Baptist Theological
Seminary, training Cameroonians
to be Bible translators. School
started the following day, so
George went to more meetings,
and began working on his lessons
and teaching his classes right
away.

News from George & Val Shultz
I began organizing the kitchen,
and the rest of the house, slowly
but surely. We spent quite a few
days cleaning cupboards that
were invaded by mice. We had a
lot of electrical work that
needed doing, light fixtures that
needed replacing, washer and
generator that didn't work, etc.
We are trying to get adjusted to
the frequent electricity outages.
Praise God we have had a good
supply of water since arriving.
After six weeks, we finally have
a system for Internet and email.

George is teaching a linguistics
course (Morphology and Syntax)
and he was asked to teach a
course on Evangelism and
Discipleship. Some of the
translation students need this
class in order to graduate. One
of the assignments the students
did was to conduct an
evangelistic Bible study. Many
people received Christ as their
Savior from the Bible studies!
That was a fruitful assignment!
Pray for the students who
graduate this year in the
Translation Degree Program.
Some of them still don't know
what they will be doing when
they graduate. Pray for wisdom
for SIL and CABTAL as they help
them start a translation project.
Stolen Computer Story
George talked with Eugine Mei,
the translation student who was
blamed for the stolen laptop
computer. You may remember
that a computer was stolen from
the Translation Center at the
seminary, and Eugine is the
person who has the key and locks
and unlocks the room. Eugine
continued to hope in the Lord
even when the situation looked
hopeless. We are grateful that the
thief was caught and the
computer was returned, but the
computer technician needs to
repair it to make it usable to the
students. The Lord provided two
more computers for the students
when we were in the USA, thanks
to you, our partners. Thank you
for your prayers for Eugine and
this situation.

New Students
In the Fall of 2011, we hope to
start a new batch of translation
students. Pray that the Lord
would call those people that He
wants to be in the program.
 Noni New Testament is
Typeset
Our good friends, Dave and
Cindy Lux, are celebrating the
completion of the typesetting of
the Noni New Testament. The
New Testament in the Noni
language is complete and all the
computer work is done. Praise
God with them for this and pray
that the printing will go well in
Korea and that the New
Testaments will arrive in time for
a dedication ceremony in Noni
land. We pray that many Noni
people would come to know the
Lord through His word.
Faith Comes By Hearing
Recently a thief came to know
the Lord through listening to
God's word in his mother tongue.
He heard the Scripture translated
into his language as it was being
played on a Proclaimer. This is a
device that plays digital audio
recordings of the New Testament
as a part of the Faith Comes By
Hearing program. Many people
had tried to evangelize this man
before, but, until he heard the
Word in his own language, he
didn't really understand what it
meant. Pray for the many people
in listening groups, including Kom
people, who are hearing God's
word in their own language and
responding by faith.

A New Grandchild!
Praise God for the arrival of
our new grandchild, Farah
Brianne Brown, born February
23. Pray for Genevieve as she
recovers from this birth and for
a good adjustment for the
whole family to this new person
in their midst. I (Val) hope to George with Zoe

George and I celebrated our 36th
wedding anniversary this month.
Now we've been married 2/3 of
Farah Brianne Brown
our lives!

George is finding it difficult to
make any progress with his PhD
research because he has so
much work to do at the
seminary. Please pray that God
