HOTTER AND HOTTER PLANET!

Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and
discomforts.

World is continuously changing. These changes have not only brought technology and
development to the world. But also these rapid changes have snared the world in big troubles.
Global Warming and Climate Change are among those. Humans have been living as careless
king. We have continuously violated the rules and regulations of nature and that violation has led
us to the current crisis.
WHAT IS GLOBAL WARMING?
Global warming is defined as the increase of the average temperature on Earth. As Earth is
getting hotter and hotter, disasters like hurricanes, tsunamis, droughts and floods are getting
more frequent.
We people are involved in various activities, which are adding the pace in world
destruction. In every day life we do several chores that harm nature directly or indirectly. Our
attitude is leading towards a hotter planet. In a report intergovernmental panel on climate change
(IPCC) has claimed that "global surface temperature will probably rise further 1.1 to 6.4 degrees
Celsius (2.0 to 11.5 degree Fahrenheit) during the 21st century. According to several
assessments done by different organizations it is mentioned that 20% to 30% of Earth's Plant and
animal species face extinction in the world warms by between 1.5 and 2.5 degrees Celsius.
It is really disturbing for all over the world community. They are making all possible
measures to control it. Because our actions are not eco friendly and these actions not only affect
human community but they are also creating many troubles for other living things. Several
Organizations are working to spread awareness so that we can have a safe Planet. The amount
of carbon dioxide and Methane is increasing rapidly in air that is very distressing because it is a
threat to the existence of living things on earth.
Basically our huge atmosphere is a tiny layer of gas around a big bulky planet, if seen
from space. But it is gaseous outer ring and it’s misleadingly called green house effect and that
could destroy life as we know it.
GLOBAL WARMING AND PAKISTSAN:
Like all over the world our dear homeland Pakistan has also experienced enormous changes
throughout years, due to unicorn-friendly activities of its people. The worst activity is to cut the
trees. Trees absorb the huge amount of carbon dioxide and emit fresh oxygen. Burning of fossils
and fuels release bigger amount of carbon dioxide that can be found in different Industrial areas,
and also it is emitted in the form of smoke from vehicles. These carbon blankets the earth,
trapping its heat and causing Global warming. Global Warming is causing a great danger to
Pakistan's atmosphere. Among the Impacts felt and seen are biodiversity loss, rise in the sea
level, increased drought and flooding and increase in the extreme of weather.
Recent Floods are also suspected to be the result of Global Warming. According to Simi
Kamal (a geographer and water specialist) Global warming results in catastrophic weather
events, the recent floods are result of climate change, undoubtedly. Approximately 1/5th of
Pakistan has drowned. Around 20 million people are affected. More than 1600 people have lost
their lives. People are compelled to live on edges of starvation, they don’t have clean water to
drink, and several epidemics have victimized them. These floods have also economically
challenged Pakistan.
Radolph Kent (executive director of humanitarian futures program) while commenting on
Pakistan said "we need to extend our thinking and begin to look at the world more strategically
and at more Global Level, and to begin preparing ourselves for future disasters before it’s too
late".
TAKING MEASURES:
It is really unfortunate to say that the major portion of Pakistan’s population don’t even
know what is Global Warming? Because of illiteracy. And more unfortunate than this is the fact
that all those people who know about it, they are also acting as ignorant.
- The best thing we can do to play our role in halting Global warming is to spread awareness
about the issue.
-Plant more and more trees.
-Shut down all extra electric accessories.
-Replace all bulbs with energy savers.
-Try to use AC if it’s extreme hot.
-Don't use cars for shorter distances.
By taking these smaller measures we can really contribute to protect our atmosphere.
