BRANCH MANAGER - JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to: Area Manager


Responsible for: Assistant Manager, Sales Assistants

Applicants must have a minimum of 12 months management/supervisory experience,


preferably in a Retail environment.

Brief Description:
To ensure the smooth, efficient and profitable running of the branch. To ensure the
maintenance and promotion of Company standards and the highest level of customer service.

1.Sales and Merchandising


 Ensure efficient stock control system is operating within the branch.
 Ensure merchandise and promotions are displayed as per senior management direction
and/or planograms.
 Identify areas of improvement and communicate to Area Managers.
 Ensure merchandise is stored and displayed in a presentable, ordered and safe manner.
 Ensure merchandise display levels are maintained.
 Accurately count tobacco stock on a weekly basis and inform Head Office by
designated time.
 Maintain adequate levels of stock dependent on sales and seasonality.
 Maintain price book and ensure merchandise are correctly priced before being
displayed.
 Control all deliveries within Company deadlines.
 Control news efficiently to minimise waste and maximise sales.
 Refuse to serve any individual who appears underage with age restricted merchandise
unless appropriate identification is produced
2. Administration
 Complete daily balances and banking as per Company procedures.
 Complete weekly sales figures (F5) as per Company procedure and send to Head
Office by the given deadline.
 Complete weekly timesheet for all staff and send to Head office by the given deadline.
 Complete documentation for stock takes and return to Head Office by the given
deadline.
 Ensure the weekly Bulletin is read and signed by all staff.
 Ensure all memos and requests from Head Office/Area Managers are actioned within
the timescale given.
3. Staff
 Ensure all staff are aware of and adhere to Company rules and procedures
 Take appropriate action against staff who fail to adhere to Company rules and
procedures
 Report all breaches of the disciplinary code to the Area Manager
 Ensure all staff know the work standards and personal standards which are expected
 Train, coach and develop staff up to and beyond a competent skill level for the duties
involved.
 Allocate and delegate work accordingly.
 Ensure staff resources are available.
 Motivate staff and maintain good staff relations.
 Maintain staffing levels agreed by Area manager.
 Recruit suitable candidates for vacancies which occur.
 Ensure all new starter induction paperwork is received by Head Office within first
week of employment.
 Ensure F24 (regarding retail law) and F78 (regarding till procedures) is completed on
an employees first day.
4. Customer Service
 Promote a welcoming atmosphere within the branch.
 Ensure all staff offer the highest standards of customer service.
 Serve customers in a polite and courteous manner.
 Offer assistance to customers when required.
 Manage effectively and courteously customer complaints.
 Ensure high standards of personal appearance and hygiene are maintained.
5. Security
 Ensure staff are aware of, and follow company security procedures at all times.
 Ensure bag checks are conduced on a daily basis.
 Ensure staff purchase procedure is followed
 Ensure all staff declare personal money and cigarettes at the start of every shift.
 Ensure all visitor identification is checked.
 Ensure all transactions are checked for payment fraud.
 Report any incidents/ potential incidents and suspicions to Area Manager immediately.
6. Health and Safety
 Ensure Company Health and Safety guidelines are complied with, and followed.
 Record and report to Head Office all accidents, injuries and incidents that occur on
branch premises.
 Report dangerous/broken equipment, fixtures and fittings to Area Manager
immediately.
7. Other Duties
 Ensure daily, weekly, monthly and annual housekeeping routines are performed in
order to maintain a clean, hygienic and safe working environment.
 Comply with all statutory regulations, bye-laws and local authority directives.
 Undertake any other duties deemed reasonable by the Company.
 Provide assistance to, and cover for other branches within a commutable distance,
where necessary.
 Participate fully in any formal or informal training sessions.

Job Description: A candidate must lead a result oriented team and should be responsible
for managing the Customer Relationship Management, Branch Profitability and ensuring

generating cross sales and business. He would require supervising key Customer
Relationships & HNW customer programs.
He should prepare periodic reports of progress vs. objectives achieved & ensure clarity of
Business objectives to the staff employees. He should be able to handle Complaints
gracefully, Review Branch Operations reports, Co-ordination with Marketing Departments &
Branch Merchandising at product level, Ensure compliance with Banking rules, Regulations &
Procedures, Lobby Management.
Qualifications: Candidate must possess at least a Masters degree in Business Admin/Post
Graduate Diploma in Business Administration/Post Graduate Program in Management in
Finance/Accountancy/Banking, Marketing or equivalent. He must have good communication
skills and should be fluent in English and Hindi.
Experience: The candidate should have at least 6 year(s) of working experience in the
related field is required for this position, preferably managers specializing in
Banking/Financial Services or equivalent.
