ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The objective of this hospital-based, full-time Programme is to train manpower for the following
job positions for hospitals and healthcare institutions: Ward Secretary, Front Office staff, Patient
Care Executive etc, and other supportive roles required in a hospital and healthcare Institution..
Currently, candidates are recruited and are asked to do the jobs after a short briefing under the
supervision of senior peers & staff. Mostly the training is ad hoc and ineffective, sometimes with
disastrous result. There is no formal, training program available in the country to train them. The
need for such programmes arises from the unique nature of the social and psychological needs of
admitted patients with a variety of ailment and their attendants in a unique health care environment.
These are the group who have to directly interact with the patients and attendants and are suppose
to be the primary responders. To work in such a sensitive and crucial situation effectively a
professional training is necessary. To deliver such services efficiently the provider requires to
develop certain personal qualities and abilities, professional skills, adequate preparation through
formal structured training under the mentorship of senior medical staff. It takes time and practice to
develop the personal and physical qualities, skills and knowledge needed. The Programme consists
of both theoretical and practical components, which would give the students the required theoretical
and hands-on experience required to be able to perform the duties of Hospital Administrative
Assistants.
This programme would help in developing professional manpower for the supportive roles in a
hospital and thus would help in enhancing the quality of hospital services.
