Abstract
Banks are the cornerstone for any economy. They are said to be the financial engineers
for any economic system. the smooth functioning of the banks are the basic necessity for
the better movement of the economy. In order to facilitate this there has been many
reforms that have taken place in our economy. The research work has been aimed at
understanding the impact of reforms over the performance of the banks.

The research has taken into consideration twelve banks and the reforms during the period
of 2001-2009. The banks have been taken from public sector and private sector equally.
The performance of banks have been made on the basis of three parameters: a) Their
financial performance, b) NPA s management by them over the years and c) The
Deposits and Advances of the Banks during this period.

The analysis has been shown with the help of graphs and tables. The interpretation for the
same has also been made. The limitations have also been brought forward in this
research.

The research contains brief introduction about the reforms, the banks taken in the
research. There has also been a description of the research methodology being adopted.
The analysis has been done on all the three parameters discussed above and the
interpretation of the same has also been given there. The recommendations and the
findings on the basis of the same has also been listed in the research.
