LIVE MUSIC: GOOD FOOD: GREAT FRIENDS
Many will remember Steph Miller from
Roaring Jack or Eva Trout. Bob Craven’s
memories go back to the folk club at
Parkside in Adelaide about 20 years ago
when Roaring Jack ploughed through
Adelaide like a freight train. Sadly Alastair
Hulett is no longer with us, but Steph
Miller certainly is. He may not the most
prolific singer-songwriter out there and
his gigs around Sydney are rare, but for
this lack of quantity, we’re rewarded with
strong, heartfelt songs, impeccable
production values and impassioned,
unrestrained performances.
Brickwork is his second album since
leaving Eva Trout at the beginning of the
millennium. Recorded in April 2009, this
album contains 20 years’ worth of Steph
Miller songs. Steph has never performed
at taste Canowindra before so it is a real
privileged that someone who plays so
seldom publically is coming to our town.
Born in Goulburn, Steph Miller is a Sydney
based songwriter and multi-
instrumentalist.
Steph is once again fronting his own
band, The Winter Station. Bringing
together top players from Sydney and
regional NSW, The Winter Station started
as a fluid studio collaboration. Now a
solid and passionate live band, they are
currently performing material from
Steph's albums, Strange Sea and
Brickwork.
Steph's songs challenge and question, tell
stories and soothe. The performance at
taste Canowindra will showcase the talent
of the band with songs that walk the line
between folk and rock, acoustic and
electric, presented in an intimate, stripped
back setting.

Next Gen Farmers grants offer support to
stage events that improve the leadership
and representative capacity of young peo-
ple entering or involved in primary indus-
tries, particularly in the context of the
challenges and opportunities in these in-
dustries as a result of a changing climate.
Grants of up to $50,000 (GST exclusive)

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries
& Forestry (DAFF) is now seeking grant

OLD CARS NEW VISITORS
The Austin Motor Vehicle Club of NSW
will be driving into Canowindra on their
way to Cowra on Easter Saturday 24 April.
They will be departing Forbes at 8.30am
and there will be 200 cars and up to 430
people involved in this rally. The club
haven’t made any plans to visit either
Canowindra or Cowra, however it is up to
the driver if they decide to stop and visit
an attraction, wine tasting, coffee and the
list goes on.
Keep you eyes open for them it’s going
to be an great procession of beautiful old
cars.

250g pumpkin, peeled & cubed
½ cauliflower, cut into florets
1 zucchini, chopped
1 large onion, diced
2 large potatoes, peeled & diced
6 cups chicken stock
½ cup low-fat evaporated milk
Combine pumpkin, cauliflower,
zucchini, onion, potato & stock in a
large pot. Cover & cook over
gentle heat for 15 mins until
vegetables are tender. Remove
from heat & puree in a blender or
through a sieve until smooth. Stir
through milk. Serves 6.

1.5kg of any chopped vegetables,
eg. sweet corn & sweet potato & 5
minutes before end of cooking
