What are the issues/barriers now?


From the people’s point of view:
1. Poor public transport to specialist health services and hospitals
2. Threat of closure of local hospital e.g. Belhaven
3. Not enough NHS dentists locally
4. Limited opening hours for Pharmacies
5. No Saturday morning GP surgeries
6. Distance to A&E too far
7. Limited number of care home places
8. No surgeries outside Dunbar in villages
9. Surrounded by polluters e.g. cement works, landfill, Torness
10. Not safe to cycle and paths not joined up for walking.
11. Lifestyles so busy it’s hard to find time for exercise and feeling stressed.
12. Availability of good quality Food

14. Patient transport takes all day for round trip.

Overall:

Short Term Milestones

1. Water quantity and quality is assessed and watershed management plans are developed.
2. Better public transport and links to get to specialty health services from all over ward 7.
3. Fewer people are on waiting lists for allotments.
4. Baseline measurement for how healthy people feel.
5. Local Action plans for improving local health and well being developed.
6. It is easier for all abilities to be more active, walking, cycling to school, work and entertainment.

Medium Term

12. New care home for all ages and more resources for homecare.

Long Term
19. Our basic needs are being met locally;
20. We have a sense of purpose.
21. We have supportive personal relationships, strong and inclusive communities, good health, financial and personal security, rewarding employment, and healthy, attractive and productive local environments.
22. Pollution is greatly reduced.
23. All essential drugs are produced without petrochemicals, some locally
24. All NHS estate is a net energy generator
25. Every NHS facility is accessible on foot, by bicycle, and by public transport
26.By 2025 we are more locally resilient because we are healthier and happier and able to access health care services and facilities using 50% less fossil fuels than we do in 2010.
