Home Appliances in India

Home Appliances are that without which a modern home is considered incomplete,
especially in urban areas. We have become so used to some of the home appliances that it
seems difficult to live without them. Indeed, they have made our life more comfortable and
easier than ever. In metro cities and big towns, such household appliances are regarded as
a boon, as they are instrumental in cutting down the time involved in most of the domestic
chores. This is really a great help since people often find it difficult to keep a balance
between professional obligation and household needs.

Home Appliances Products

Products such as microwave ovens, juicer- mixer- grinder, fully automatic washing
machines, frost- free refrigerators are the most popular category of home appliances. This
is because they have made the work of housewives less tiresome and more enjoying. Most
of the domestic appliances are useful in various kitchen related jobs and hence are termed
as kitchen appliances. Gas stoves, toasters, microwave ovens, mixer & grinders, juicers &
blenders, roti makers, refrigerators, water purifiers are some of the most common kitchen
appliances in India. Besides, there is a category of electronic products that have become an
integral part of modern houses. These are air conditioners, fans, room coolers, room
heaters, geysers, electrical irons etc.

Home Appliance Companies in India

There are many Home Appliance companies in India like Videocon, Voltas, Godrej,
Bluestar, Kenstar etc. Apart from them there are various international companies also that
deal in domestic appliances. Some of these home appliances manufacturers are Samsung,
LG, IFB, Whirlpool, Kenmore etc. With the arrival of international brands in Indian
market, the competition among rival companies have become stiff, which results in further
improvement in qualities and depreciation in prices of most of the home appliances in
India. Since, a majority of products are electrically operated, the focus is on such
household appliances that are efficient in power consumption.
Home Appliance Stores

Most of the leading home appliances manufacturers and companies have set up their
exclusive retail outlets in important towns and cities of the country. Besides, there are local
home appliances suppliers, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers spread throughout India.
Apart from that Home Appliances stores and shops are located in every locality, which let
you compare products of different companies before buying and also let you buy all kinds of
home appliance products at one place. Some manufacturers also offer after sale service, and
if needed, repair the damaged parts of your electronic products. So here you will find the
sites of some of the leading Home Appliances manufacturers and suppliers.

From January to February of 2010, the sales revenue in the entire household appliance industry
was RMB171.1 billion yuan, up 33 percent year on year; the trend of rapid growth basically
continues with the net profit growth rate being 65 percent. In the household electrical appliance
industry (including white appliances and small household appliances), the sales revenue from
January to February of 2010 was RMB111.1 billion yuan, up 32 percent year on year. In the first
two months of this year, the gross profit rate in the entire industry was 13.27 percent. The
continually increase of the price for raw materials in 2009 has affected the profit capability of the
industry.
Viewing from the situation of the various sub-industries, the aggregated sales volume of
household air conditioners in the first two months was 11.54 million sets, up 33.3 percent year
on year, and the output was 12.62 million sets, up 59.3 percent year on year; both the sales
volume and output had exceeded the level of the same period in 2008. The sales volume of
refrigerators in January was 5.5 million sets, up 92.2 percent year on year, hitting the new record
since 2009; in January, the output was 5.23 million sets, up 93.8 percent year on year, still
remaining the high level. The output and sales volume of washing machines in February were
3.16 million sets and 3.37 million sets, up 14 percent and 28 percent respectively. As for the
liquid crystal display TV industry, the output in January was 7.55 million sets, up 80 percent
year on year, the sales volume was 7.44 million sets, up 81 percent year on year; the rate of
production and marketing, which has always kept a high level since the beginning of 2009, was
98 percent.
Viewing from the whole situation, in the first quarter of 2010, no matter the industrial data or
enterprises' sales volume, the year-on-year growth rates have witnessed rapid increases, and the
month-on-month growth rates have also improved. Especially such big household appliances as
air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines and color TVs have performed well. Air
conditioners and refrigerators sell well even in the low season, and the sales volume has closed
to that in the most salable month in the peak season. As for washing machines and color TVs, the
sales volume was favorable as they presented in a peak season. Although the best selling is
partially attributed to the effect of the Spring Festival, the year-on-year growth rate is still rapid.
In terms of domestic sales, it is estimated that the high year-on-year growth rate will last to mid-
2010 and may fall in the second half of 2010. After the limit price of the products involved in the
policy of "Household appliances going to the countryside", the effect of "Household appliances
going to the countryside" will exert further and support the domestic demand on the household
appliances industry in 2010. As the sales base of the products involved in the policy of
"Household appliances going to the countryside" was relatively higher in the second half of
2009, the year-on-year growth rate of the sales volume of the products involved in the policy of
"Household appliances going to the countryside" may fall back to the normal growth rate in the
second half part of 2010. The policy of "old for new" for household appliances will be promoted
across China in the second half of 2010, and its main impact on the household appliances
industry is to promote the upgrade of demand structure, and the driving function to the growth of
sales volume is expected to be on a par with the policy of "Household appliances going to the
countryside".
In terms of export, recently, the export of China's household appliances has improved obviously,
and all manufacturers reflect that the export orders are sufficient. In January and February of
2010, the export amounts of the household electric appliances industry were US$2.65 billion and
US$2.4 billion, up 14.22 percent and 29.03 percent year on year respectively, basically having
recovered to the level of the same period in 2008. The export amounts of TV industry in January
and February were US$790 million and US$731 million, up 46 percent and 48 percent year on
year respectively. Although the growth rate and absolute quantity have declined, a rapid growth
still remained. Viewing from the situation of the main markets for household appliances export,
the export of China's household appliances towards the occidental area was still in a slow
recovery while the export towards Asian areas (including Japan) and some developing countries
has increased obviously. With the recovery of the global economy, the improving trend of the
export in the household appliances industry will continue.
In a word, we believe that there will be certain indeterminacy in the operation of the industry in
the second half of 2010, and the year-on-year growth rate may decline, but it is still expectable
that the household appliances industry will keep an obvious growth in the whole 2010. The
policies of "Household appliances going to the countryside" and "old for new" for household
appliances will effectively promote the transformation, upgrade and sound development of the
industry, and the recovery of the international market demand will also drive the growth of the
industry.
