Dear Mayor:

This is the committee meeting schedule that will be

held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in the City Council
Chambers. All Council committee meetings shall begin at
2:30 p.m. unless otherwise designated.

Personnel Committee meeting at 2:30 p.m.

1. To consider final adoption of an ordinance rescinding

Ordinance No. 247-2003, in part and to the extent that
it places the Civil Service department under the
supervision and control of Human Resources.

2. To hear from Mr. Jack Haller to discuss the benefits

derived from the Administration and Council working
together for the betterment of the entire community.

Finance Committee meeting at 3:00 p.m. or

immediately following

1. To hear a report from a representative of AFSCME.

 Public Works/Zoning Committee meeting at 3:30
p.m. or immediately following

1. To hear a report from the Administration concerning

drainage in Martin Park Subdivision.

Economic Development Committee meeting at 3:50

p.m. or immediately following

1. To hear an update from a representative from the

Alexandria/Pineville Area Convention Visitors Bureau
concerning marketing for the City of Alexandria.

Legal Committee meeting at 4:15 p.m. or immediately

following

1. Resolution directing the Administration to cease and

desist litigation efforts, including but not limited to the
filing of appeals/writs, in the Tiffany Sanders v.
Alexandria Civil Service Commission matter.

2. To consider final adoption of an ordinance authorizing

the Mayor to enter into a contract with Alexandria Auto
Auction and Bonnette Auction Company for
professional auctioneering services to be used on an
“as needed” basis.

3. To consider final adoption of an ordinance authorizing

payment of Thomas D. Davenport, Jr., attorney for the
Alexandria Civil Service Commission.

4. To hear an update on the progress for the dedication of

the Gravel-Berry City Court Building.

5. To hear a report in reference to Resolution No. 8902-

2011 requesting Payne, Moore and Herrington, Auditors
to conduct an audit in the Legal Division from May,
2010 to present and the expenses associated with the
audit.
 Utility Committee meeting at 4:30 p.m. or
immediately following

1. To hear a report from the Administration concerning

the utility rates, fuel cost and the amount of fuel cost is
passed on to the customers.

2. To hear a report from the Administration concerning

number of customers payment plans based on utility
cost.

3. To hear a report from the Administration concerning

utility theft.

Please have your staff note the change in format for the
committee meetings done in compliance with R. S. 42.7.
The Council has directed that the City Clerk may advise the
public of scheduling regarding committee meetings. It is
always that the intention of the Council to convene
committee meetings at the conclusion of the prior
committee meeting unless the chairman of the meeting may
indicate otherwise for the convenience of the public. Have
appropriate members from your Administration present for
discussion.
