An American Mother s Letter to Karzai

To Mr. Karzai and Members of the Afghan Puppet Government:
Asalaam Aleikum. My name is Sheri Mohmand. I was born in the United States into
a highly
respected family, which has been in the United States for hundreds of years; som
e of my ancestors
fought in the American Revolution and the Civil War. I am an attorney. Over twen
ty years ago, I
became a Muslim and married an Afghan man, Abdul Kadir Mohmand. I have been thin
king about
these issues for the past nine years.
Mr. Karzai, aren t you embarrassed to be a puppet of the US and foreigners? You ar
e worshipping
US dollars and foreigners instead of Allah.
What happened to your Afghan honor, desire for independency and dignity? Did it
die with the
passing of true Afghans like my father-in-law Khan Mohmand? My father-in-law onc
e told me that
true Afghans do not dance for others. What has happened to you? Why do you dance f
or US
leaders and dollars to put in your large bank accounts?
Members of the Afghan Government, aren t you embarrassed that your president is a
puppet and
you are part of a corrupt puppet government? Here in the United States we do not
allow members of
our executive (President, Vice President etc), judicial (judges), and legislativ
e (Congress) branches
to be on the payrolls of foreign intelligence and controlled by foreign governme
nts. We do not
allow foreigners to draft our constitution or bodyguard our president. We do not
allow foreign
armies to occupy our country. Why do you?
As an American Muslim woman married to a true Afghan man, I am embarrassed for y
ou. Every
time I see you on television, I cringe with embarrassment and I am sad for the A
fghan people. After
thirty years of suffering, the Afghan people deserve stability, peace and true i
ndependence. They do
not deserve occupation, war, a puppet government, and corruption. Are you not em
barrassed that
Afghan children are starving, being raped and sold, and Afghan women are having
to resort to
selling themselves in foreign countries to survive while you, your families and
friends are
benefitting from this war and occupation-you are building palaces in Dubai and a
round the world
and putting large sums of money in your bank accounts? Why do you allow occupyin
g forces to
enter into and raid Afghan homes to question and seize the men and humiliate, ha
rm and even rape
the Afghan women and children? Aren t you ashamed about the killing of innocent Af
ghans
especially the escalation of war and the massacring of innocent Afghans in the P
ashtun areas?
Are US dollars more important to you than your dignity, independency, honor and
the lives of
Afghans? Is money more important than the honor and well being of the Afghan wom
en and
children? Is money and so-called power more important to you than Islam?
How can I teach my Afghan children to be proud of their Afghan heritage when the
y are witness to
your shameful behavior? You, Karzai, do not need to be president and you members
of the puppet
government do not need to hold any kind of leadership positions. You are without
dignity and
honor.
