Introduction
The support of HP OpenView Storage Data Protector on Microsoft® Windows® 2003 x86-64
needed a port of Storage Data Protector agents in native 64-bit mode. The support of different agents
has been released in site-specific patches (SSPs).
The following SSPs have been released:
• SSPNT550_111—Core
• SSPNT550_118—Disk Agent
• SSPNT550_130—Media Agent
• SSPNT550_131—SQL Integration Agent
• SSPNT550_100—SMISA Integration Agent
• SSPNT550_126—SAP Integration Agent
• SSPNT550_102—XP/SSEA Agent
• SSPNT550_135—MAXDB Integration Agent

The following SSP is scheduled to be released in the near future to support the following agent:
• SSPNT550_136—Oracle Integration Agent

Note:
Initial earlier releases of SSPNT550_072 (Media Agent), SSPNT550_087
(Disk Agent), and SSPNT550_101 (SQL Integration Agent) have been
recalled as these patches were not working together, causing functional
problems.

Executive summary
The procedure to install the preceding SSPs and all their prerequisites is complex and a consolidated
documentation for installation is needed.
Therefore, this white paper describes the preparation of the Cell Manager and Cell Console systems
and then explains, one by one, the installation of the preceding SSPs for Microsoft Windows 2003
x86-64 agents.

Installation procedure
The following sections detail the step-by-step instructions for installing Storage Data Protector clients on
the Microsoft Windows 2003 x86-64 platform. The recommendation is to follow these instructions
rather than following the readme.txt, which is packaged along with the SSPs. This holds true for all
the released SSPs unless the reader is explicitly asked to refer for the readme.txt in some cases.

Note:
In case an agent mentioned in the following instruction sections is not
needed in your environment, skip the section corresponding to that agent.

2
Notations followed for applying the SSPs:
• <Target System> refers to Microsoft Windows x86-64 client system.
• <Program files Home> refers typically to C:\Program Files.
• <Program files x86 Home> refers typically to C:\Program Files (x86).
• <OMNIHOME> refers typically to C:\Program Files\OmniBack for Windows, and /opt/omni for
Solaris and HP-UX.

3. Installing the core and agent patches for Microsoft
Windows 2003 x86-64 support
For all the agents to function properly, the core components are bundled together and released as an
Agent Core SSP, which is SSPNT550_111. So, on the Microsoft Windows x86_64 client system, use
the following instructions to apply the Core SSP.

3.1. Instructions for installing Agent Core SSP (SSPNT550_111)

The patch SSPNT550_111.exe contains:
• OmniEnu.dll
• OmniInet.exe
• srdx.dll
• sysnfowxp.dll
• BrandChgUni.dll
• omnirc.tmpl
• scsitab
• REGSSPNT550_111.reg

1. Log on to the <Target System> where you want to apply the patch
2. Uninstall any existing Storage Data Protector installations using the Start, Settings, Control Panel,
Add/Remove Programs and by selecting HP OpenView Storage Data Protector A.05.50 from the
list of installed programs.
3. (This step is needed to ensure that the previous step executed properly and Storage Data Protector
was uninstalled properly in the <Target System> as sometimes the uninstall fails to clean up all the
Registry Entries properly.) Check whether the DP OmniBack Registry Entries in the WOW64 node
under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Hewlett-Packard\ OpenView and
KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hewlett-Packard\OpenView are cleaned up. Otherwise,
delete these entries manually.
4. Stop the OmniInet service if it is still running. This step is required because sometimes the uninstall
fails to stop or delete the OmniInet service.
5. If any OmniBack folders still exist in <Program files x86 Home> or <Program files Home>, then
delete it by executing from command prompt: rmdir /S /Q OmniBack. This step is required
because sometimes the uninstall fails to remove the OmniBack directories.
6. Create the following directories under <Program files Home> by executing these commands:
o mkdir OmniBack
o mkdir OmniBack\bin
o mkdir OmniBack\Config
o mkdir OmniBack\Config\client
o mkdir OmniBack\log
o mkdir OmniBack\tmp

7. Extract the binaries from (self-extracting) SSPNT550_111.exe under any folder in <Target
System>, referred to as <Extraction Folder> henceforth.
8. Copy omnirc.tmpl from the <Extraction Folder> to <OMNIHOME>.
9. Copy OmniEnu.dll, OmniInet.exe, sysnfowxp.dll, and srdx.dll from the <Extraction Folder> into
<OMNIHOME>\bin.
10. Copy BrandChgUni.dll from the <Extraction Folder> to C:\Windows\system32.

14
11. The file REGSSPNT550_111.reg in the <Extraction Folder> is a registry file. It contains Storage
Data Protector settings to be merged into the System Registry. To perform the merge, double-click
the file or press the right mouse button, then choose Merge.
The merge will set default paths for the DataProtector to C:\Program Files\OmniBack. If some
other directory is used as the <OMNIHOME>, then modify this registry file accordingly for the
”Exclude” and ”HomeDir” entries and then merge it by right-clicking the registry file and selecting
Merge from the options.

12. Register OmniInet as a service (if it is not registered) by using sc.exe utility from the following
command prompt:
sc create omniinet binPath="<OMNIHOME>\bin\OmniInet.exe"
DisplayName= "Data Protector Inet" start= auto
sc description omniinet "[HP OpenView Storage Data Protector]—Backup
client service"
13. Start OmniInet service from the command prompt: sc start omniinet

Installation of the agents

After SSPNT550_111 is installed, the Target System is ready for the installation of any of the 64-bit
enabled Storage Data Protector agents. The order of installation of Agents is not of concern unless
specified in installation instructions.

3.2. Installation instructions for Disk Agent (SSPNT550_118)

The patch SSPNT550_118.exe contains:
• fsbrda.exe
• libdc.dll
• libde.dll
• rbda.exe
• rrda.exe
• vbda.exe
• vrda.exe
• omni_info

1. Extract the SSPNT550_118.exe binaries under any folder in <Target System>, referred as
<Extraction Folder> henceforth.
2. Copy the following binaries from the <Extraction Folder> into <OMNIHOME>\bin:
o fsbrda.exe
o libdc.dll
o libde.dll
o rbda.exe
o rrda.exe
o vbda.exe
o vrda.exe

15
3. If omni_info file is not present in <OMNIHOME>\Config\client, then copy the file omni_info from
the <Extraction Folder> to <OMNIHOME>\Config\client. Otherwise, append the contents of the
omni_info file located in the <Extraction Folder> to the existing omni_info file under
<OMNIHOME>\Config\client directory.
4. Import the client in your Storage Data Protector Cell Manager by connecting to the Cell Manager
from the GUI, if the <Target System> is not already shown in the list of clients in the Storage Data
