The price comparison was done by home economist Sylvia Kong as part of an ongoing series on Feedback Fonts: Bigger Smaller
price checks to be aired monthly on CTV.

Once a month, CTV will create a grocery list and compare prices at major Calgary stores. The prices
are a snapshot on the given day.

All coupons and membership programs are included and some chains vary prices from store to
store.

CTV priced out 39 items at the Shawnessy Safeway, Shawnessy Co-op, Millrise Sobeys and

Shawnessy Superstore.

The best deal was at Superstore, where the grocery basket cost $105.00.

The same goods bought at Safeway cost $124.13.

At Sobeys, the basket cost $122.40.

And it was most expensive to shop at Co-op, where it cost $124.55.

This week's best buys are: bananas for $1.30/kg at Sobeys, Classico Pasta Sauce - 650 mL - $2.49
at Superstore and Private Label Baked Beans - 398 mL - $0.88 at Superstore.
