Introduction
One of the oldest and easiest spiritual healing practice or meditation practice of Hindu
rituals related with Agni /fire is Agnihotra - the sacred homa. This spiritual technique is a
type of fire worship which was practiced by Indian saints thousands of years back. It is also
known as small yajna (Yagna is a form of fire-worship, but in larger scale). Agnihotra homa
can become a complimentary Shakti or energy for us because all of us live in a very close
relation with nature. The best place to do Agnihotra is in the middle of room as the smoke
from this homa/yajna can cover the entire house.
A few years back a devastating accident took place at Bhopal which is known as Bhopal
Gas Tragedy. Thousands of people died in that tragedy. In a radius of 3km from the
point leakage nobody had survived except a few. Surprisingly, scientists started
investigating this issue and revealed a shocking truth. They come to know that all the
survivors and their families were regularly performing Agnihotra homa in their house.
This makes us realize the greatness of Agnihotra
The offerings consist of two pinches full of uncooked rice grains smeared with a few drops of
cow's pure ghee. The fire is prepared out of dried cow dung cakes (Called Kanda or Uppla in
Hindi) in a small copper pot of a semi-pyramid shape.
The positive effects of Agnihotra are an outcome of simultaneous functioning of many subtle
scientific principles such as, effect of chanting of specific sounds on the atmosphere and
mind, energies emanating from the pyramid- shape, nutritional effect of burning of medicinal
ingredients and the effects of bio-rhythms etc.
Agnihotra balances the cycle of nature and nourishes the human life.
It creates pure, clean and medicinal atmosphere.
It cleanses the negative effects of pollution.
First, take a small piece of the cow dung cake and place it at the bottom of the pot. Now put Gugul, Camph
Cotton Wick soaked in cow's ghee on the bottom piece and then start arranging the other pieces of cow
cakes around it neatly. Use a
Matchstick to light the fire. If necessary, use the fan so that all the pieces are fully ablaze. Take two pinche

Exactly at sunset time, accompanied by the chanting of sunset Agnihotra mantras - 'Agnaye Svaha' offer

uttering the second line of the mantra offer other part of the rice grains to the fire after saying 'Prajapatay

Offerings are fully burnt.
This concludes the evening Agnihotra.

PRELIMINARY STUDY
PRELIMINARY STUDIES ON THE EFFECT OF HOMA FARMING ON THE YIELD AND INCIDENC

The by product of Homa farming called Agnihotra ash, is obtained by burning dry cow

It was believed that adoption of homa farming in agricultural field completely sterilized the environment an
field from pathogens.
Hence, an experiment was conducted to study the effect of foliar spraying of Agnihotra ash (200 gram of A
in 1 litre cow urine kept for three days for fermentation and dissolved in 10 litre of water)
for the management of leaf spot caused by Mycosphaerella Brassicicola on Cabbage cv. Questo during the

The treatments comprised of spraying of Agnihotra ash 5 times at 10 days interval, spraying mancozeb 0.2%
10 days
The results revealed that foliar application of Agnihotra ash has increased the yield of Cabbage by 38.8% A
