ROLE OF THE SGA ATTORNEY GENERAL: The SGA Attorney General serves on the Executive Board of
the SGA, functions as the parliamentarian of the Legislature and serves on a Legislative Committee, and
is charged with being fully informed as the activities of the Constitutional Council. The Attorney General
performs a second level of review of all applications for new student organizations and corresponds
directly with groups that need access to SGA files on their organization. Finally, the Attorney General
acts as a general counsel for SGA and all organizations chartered thereunder (including the College
Council). The following are accomplishments in addition to those listed responsibilities, which I have
fulfilled comprehensively and expediently.

Work With the College Council:

-Within two weeks of confirmation, presented College Council officers with a list of
inconsistencies between College Council regulations on chartering and College Council charter
applications that had not been previously detected.

-Crafted the compromise that allowed the College Council to bring the Volunteer Council into
existence while maintaining the integrity of Student Government Association mandates on
distribution of the Student Activity Fee.

-Assisted 55th College Council Vice President for Administration Stephanie Spangler and College
Council Chief of Staff Arjun Seth in drafting the Constitution that governs the Volunteer Council,
helped to proof-read bills presented to the College Council Legislature in conjunction with
Stephanie and Arjun.

-Volunteered and filled gaps in Voter Assistance Station hours for the College Council Elections
Board in the Fall 2010 Semester.

-Coordinated rules and agenda for and co-moderated ͞Dialogue on Student Government at
Emory͟ with 55th College Council Chief of Staff Brett Henson and Alec Fox.
-Spoke at Council of Presidents and addressed questions from student organization presidents
regarding registrations.

-Discovered discontinuities with College Council membership requirements and presented

these to the College Council Executive Board to advise on charter policy that limited liability.

-Currently working with College Council Secretary Kyle Piccone and College Council Chief of
Staff Arjun Seth on a university-wide student government archiving initiative.

Other Work For the Student Government Association:

-Coordinated with former Student Government Association Elections Chair Kwan-Lamar Blount
Hill (͛11, Law) to ensure records collection and documentation for sanction completion.

-Established rules that allowed division governments to request accounts housed in SGA that
could streamline divisional funding efforts used by College Council, Graduate Business Council,
and Emory Student Nursing Association.

-Drafted new text for the Student Government Association website to provide information on
chartering student groups and answer questions frequently received in the Student
Government Association Office.

-Manually reviewed all student organization registrations and compiled a list of registrations
that required corrections to division officers in the fall and spring semesters.

-Reached out individually to student organizations with requests for additional information for
organization registration. (Currently in progress for the spring semester)

-Created training presentations for Student Government Association legislators and the SGA
Elections Board on rules of procedure appropriate to their respective positions.

-Drafted position descriptions for the Constitutional Council and Student Government
Association Elections Board used for recruiting and holding the current appointees.

-Reached out to different divisions of student government regarding ballot sharing and
provided a framework on the electoral process for the Grad SGA Elections to the Grad SGA
Elections Chair.

-Moved to add the hardship fund bill to the Executive Board agenda to be funded out of the
Allocated Account in the face of a veto, understanding the controversy revolved more around
whether SGA was using funds correctly, not whether the program merited funding.
-Led a collaborative discussion of the Student Government Association governing documents,
and drafted a total of fifteen bills totaling twenty pages of text. The bills introduced new SGA
policies to resolve issues in this and previous sessions or addressed defunct language present
within the documents.

-Drafted language that allows Grad SGA to assume administrative functions as a division and
maintain the status quo for undergraduate officers in order to fulfill the wants of both and
without creating dissonance in the bylaws of the SGA.

-Requested the SGA Elections Board include a statement of purpose regarding the March 18
referendum to clarify its intentions, and drafted that statement of purpose.

-Coordinated ballot testing for the March 18 referendum on behalf of the SGA Elections Board.

-Manned the voter assistance station with various members of the Elections Board for five and
a half hours to answer questions regarding the referendum at the request and approval of the
SGA Elections Board.

violate the Election Code. The 2010 Elections Board also drafted proposed extensive amendments to the
SGA Elections Code.

elections due to diligent service o the Elections Board.
