Questar is a oil and gas company which supply the energy requirements in United States. It
is clear that any mining operation in the Pinedale Mesa will affect the environment.
However, BLM can not make ideal decision since Questar operation is backed up by
“artificial power”, which given by the petroleum company association. As we know, the
association have close relationship with government. Questar also
 Corporate issues
Questar mining operation is clearly disturd and threaten the environment. The only way to
stop it is by stopping the mining operation. However, it seem difficult since a lor of parties
play a part there. And those party are powerful party which can influence any government
decision.
 Indivudaual issues.

Jim Sims and Dru Brower: As the representative of the petroleum association, they try their
best effort for their own interest. We can’t expect them to even just considerate to stop the
mining operation.

A: Wildlife species are also a living creature, they are a heritage from from our ancestor. Therefore,
it is our responsibility to keep it for the next generation. However, as been said by Charles Darwin
about “survival of the fittest”, only a species with an ability to adapt with the environment can
survive. For grouses, their environment impacted by people, and they should adapt with it or they
will extinct. However, once again, as a person we should treat them as a heritage and do the best to
save them. In this case, Questar can drill another well outside pinedale, United States energi
consumption still can be supplied by importing petroleum. Maybe it will cost more, but it will also
save the grouse and environment, at least for some extent.

A: Yes, they are. They fairly appreciate Questar effort to drill more efficiently. However, it is still
obvious that those technique will affect the environment. The only way to stop environmental
damage is by stopping the mining operation.
