BIOLOGY EDUCATION OF SURABAYA UNIVERSITY STATE
At this globalisation era, the period necessity bringing out the impact to all
of sectors. This is causes increase of human sources quality in order to has ability
to compete in international world.
These efforts are quality, efficiency, relevancy and also competence
nationally and internationally at the basic and middle education stage. So the
government rise up by fostering education which has international standard, in
general and private school. Related with fostering in nourishing international
standard education, so:
(1) The qualified international standard education is the education that can
achieve national and international standard quality.
(2) The efficient international standard education is the education that can allow
optimal quality (national and international standard) with the minimal
finance.
(3) The international standard education have to relevant, it’s mean education
organized have to adaptable with students necessary, parent, associaty,
environment, school condition, then local government ability
(4) The international standard education has been high competence in out put or
out come of education, process, and input of school nationally also
internationally.
These aspects very important, so that needed very competence teacher and
has ability to manage teaching learning in the international class. The importance
of teacher role should have needed, so that learning process in the class can go out
fluently. One of international standard education school pioneering (RSBI)
teacher competence is teaching using english language and preparing graduater
who has competence international standard. A lot of RSBI in this time is
demanding teacher graduater who has competence to teach in RSBI.
Unesa as a former of teacher build international class specially in
mathemathic and science faculty. This inovation has aim for preparing teachers
who able teaching in RSBI class. Inovation that done by Unesa is based on
process requirement of learning activity in RSBI. By requirement competence
which has international standard. This competence should have by indonesian
human resources. It’s mean that demograph also as a inovation resource that done
by Unesa.
There are 3 kinds of inovation characteristics, newness, reinvention, and
specificity.
(1) Newness
Science and mathemathic faculty is the first faculty that instituting
international class in Unesa. It’s built at 2008 in 6 th grade, 2006th. There isn’t
international class before, in another faculty of Unesa. This class is needed by
people or another school to looking for international teacher.
(2) Reinvention
Regeneration of this class is done step by step. International class at
2006th with 2009th are different.
(3) Specificity
a. Relative advantages
Learning in international class giving advantages for teacher
candidate, such as increasing capability using english language orally and
written. Teacher aspirant also can arangement lesson plan, sylabus,
assessment, evaluation, based on competence that persue, more creative
in choosing and using learning media that has ICT basic.
b. Compatibility
RSBI teacher should have international competence. The appearances
of international class by Unesa compatible enough because it is
accordance with global demand. So that, when the teacher candidate
gaduate, they can teach using international standard properly.
c. Complexity
The international class of course need special exercise. As the pioneer
class, 2006th class are used to exercise. Because, to manage this class,
needed local expertise.
d. Trialability
This inovation can be trialed and adopted hand over hand.
e. Observatibility
The result of this inovaton can be saw by another person. The student
of international class at this faculty has been trialed at various school,
midle and high school. So that, the people able to see the evidence
phisically. This class giving different impact then regular class.
Suggestion
Over all, this class is good. But there is needed several aspect to revise.
1. Same with midle and high grade, the lecture still need better preparation.
2. Structure and infrastructure of this class not equal enough, for example, the
laboratory, class room, and another infrastucture.
3. The selection of this class not selective enough. It’s proven at new grade.
4. The matter of this class is same with regular class. Whereas, the teacher of
regular class and RSBI class actually has different curriculum to taught. So
that, the matter and the curriculum of this class should revise.
