WiMAX – Worldwide interoperability for Microwave Access:

Technology to allow devices to form wireless connections to permit the
carrying of internet packet data. It is similar to WiFi in concept, but has a
number of enhancements designed to improve performance and permit
usage over much greater distances.

Data rates up to 45 Mbps over 20km for Fixed services.

eventually, mobile wireless broadband connectivity without the need for
direct line-of-sight (LOS) with a base station

High Capacity :WiMAX system can be expected to deliver capacity up to 40
Mbps per channel, for fixed & portable applications.

Quality of service: Carriers can deliver varying levels of service, such as
data, voice
and video.
Effect of Weather : WiMax is unaffected by environmental or climatic
