Evaluation

Introduction

This particular assignment was quite simple to do. But with many video
projects there are always issue with planning and process the time
available to me, I usually found myself worrying about things I needed to
do and not doing them. I found myself having one idea then change it at
the last minute because I saw someone else’s that was much better.
Most of my skill was post production I found myself finding the paper
work exceptionally hard to finish. I believe that I put a full 100 percent of
effort in to this project. I believe that due to my organisation towards
filming my video I got out the best that I could have got.
I had a few ideas I wanted to film but one in particular made think to
myself that I could really pull it off and showing what i could do. I wanted
to work with stereo types. I wanted to the audience to think one thing
then see something completely different at the end of the video.

Visual quality

Colour-There was sometimes dull background lighting can make it harder

for people whom are visually challenged to see what is going on. I had to
go and do pick up shots to fix this problem
Lighting- The lighting was bright in some shot and dull in others. Because
of the time I realised this problem I could not change it

Sound quality

The sound quality on the film footage was not great. There was one very
important clip that I wanted to use but because the sound quality was
poor I could not use it. I wanted to get rid of any background noise that
would be heard so I used sound. I was thinking of doing one or two voice
over’s of the actors I used but i thought to myself that maybe it would be
too complicated. The background music was made using garage band by
me.
Distortion-Sometimes the footage looked distorted and sometimes it did
not. I was unable to hear what the characters were saying also at times
the sound was distorted so I used a voice over track
Low level-Because of the low level of talking by the people in the shots I
used sound track to overcome this problem. I could have used a sound
booster but I think the track I used worked well so I didn’t need to use
the sound track, I also could have not shot in open public places where
lots of people would be around talking and making lots of noise.
Aesthetic quality: -

Creativity- I used Special effects, transitions and titles to be more

creative in my video. After the first two minute into the film i realised that
too much creativity within the film, had the tendency sometimes, of being
too much and can become boring and distracting for the viewer.

Continuity-
It can be helpful seeing one scene after the other in the order so that the
viewing audience can understand what is going on, but if the scenes are
not in order it can confuse the viewer and lose their interest before it has
even started to get interesting because they don’t know what is going on.
This was I try to do with the scenes that i had film. I had to move around
shots to get the continuity right

Sequence/flow-
The scenes where not too long and where not too short so it worked well.
Using a certain amount of time for each shot the interest of the piece it
would have kept their interest.

Timing-
I made sure the shots were timed so they didn’t become long and boring,
I had to cutting down the scenes to help with the timing of the
soundtrack, I think that doing this made the video much better. This is
seen best in the beginning of the video when the first female actress is
leaning against the wall talking.
