Hi friends, This is shiva, I am from instrumentation background. I had attended for the

Hi friends, This is shiva, I am from instrumentation background. I had attended for the
Engineers India Limited (EIL) exam on 6th April, 2008 in Bangalore . Before that I want
to reveal one thing, before few days I have searched for the eil papers in freshersworld,

The entire test comprises of two sections, they are

1. General Awareness
2. Technical paper
In whole test paper there is no aptitude questions n one more imp thing is negative
marking is there, for every wrong answer 1/4th mark will be deduced. The paper
comprises of 150 questions, 50 are General awareness and remaining 100 are technical
questions. All are multiple choice questions.
The General Awareness paper is fully comprises of General Knowledge. Candidates

those who have sound knowledge in the general knowledge can answer the paper easily.

Ability. It was a simple analogy. Another was a word meaning. There was a set of 6
puzzle problems where one has to identify A,B,C,D,E,F. Relevant informations were
given.
The APTI part was simple Class 10 questions involving simple SPEED-TIME-
DISTANCE problems (4questions on train crossing each other) , few numerical
sequential problems, simple Profit-Loss-Discount problems ( 3-4), there was set of 5-6
graphical interparatation problem ( between Demand and Supply of 3 companies), Few

Screening of students is take place in four steps:-

1. very tough eligibility criteria
2. written test(totally from both R S Agarwal)
3. G.D
4. Interview (technical+hr both at a same time)
There were separate marks for written test, GD & Interview. The sum total of all the
marks was taken for the final results. Although the written test was the only elimination
round, they didn’t eliminate anyone in the GD.
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Ist class in Ist attempt in 10th 12th and in BE
2. Aggregate 60% in 10th 12th & BE
3. No history of Backlog
4. Maximum 1 year gap between 12th & BE
5. No gap b/w 10th & 12th
6. Must be medically fit (no colour blindness)
At first :-( Pre Placement Talk)

The session started with the PPT. It was of 1 hr.
2nd Round:-
The ppt was followed by a written test. It consists of 35 questions to be completed in 45
minutes. The questions were very simple but speed was the main factor. There was no
negative marking in the written test.
The written consists of

1. 5 questions- Data Interpretation (Bar Graph problem)
2. aptitude questions (simple maths)
3. Venn diagram questions (refer r s agarwal whole chapter, do it first)
4. 5 questions- jumbled puzzles(R S Agarwal pg. 299)

7. 5Questions-from Probability, chain rule, allegation of mixture, area
The aptitude questions were simple but time management is very important. They were
mainly from both R.S. Aggrawal. The topics were- Average, Problems on ages,
Percentage, Profit & Loss, problems on train, ratio, numbers, probability, chain rule,
volume & surface area, series completion, coding& decoding, analogy(verbal), venn
diagram, syllogism.
For Data interpretation, refer RS Aggrawal- quantitative aptitude.
3rd Round:-
The written test was the elimination round. It was followed by a Group Discussion. Out
of 28 students 18 were selected for G.D.
They had made two groups of 10 & 8 students.

1. The topic for Ist group was “LIFE AFTER 100 YEARS”
2. The topic of the IInd group was “HUMAN AFTER DEATH, IN HEAVEN OR IN
HELL”
don’t forget to go in the GD room with a pen & a register, they had given us one minute
to think on the topic. They checked our registers what we had write in the register in
that one min.
Nobody eliminated in the GD round.
4th Round:-
The last round was the Interview. The interview consists of Technical + HR
INTERVIEW
1. What about ur GD?
2. Tell me about yourself?
3. Reason for one year drop?
4. Future ambition?
5. Favourate subjects?
I have said microprocessor, transformer and machines. But he didn’t ask me any
question from microprocessors.

9. What are the effects of reactive power, how can you reduce the effects of reactive
power?
10. What is capacitor bank, how it works?
11. When reactive power enters the system, what happens in the system?
12. Can u explain all this technical terms to any laborer, worker?

14. conditions for parallel test?
15. types of faults, what are symm. And asymm. Faults?
16. At last the result was announced.

that...just open ur mouth..say something r say i dont know.. they wil help u to
answer the questtions...b frank what u know.. tel ur area of intrest they wil ask
from that.. r else learn basics in CONTROL SYSTEM and MEASUREMENT and
INSTRUMENTATION...
They wil ask ur aim d family background.. u just b frank d tel something.. they
need communication not the grammer r knowledge... b confident...b bold...b

VEDANTA PAPER ON 6th AUGUST
Dear Friends,
Normally when we go through placement paper website we seldom come across papers
of Tech/Core companies. But we have made a humble beginning………Anyways,
VEDANTA came to our college on the 6th of August. In the mail that was sent to our
college it was mentioned that VEDANTA requires 785 GET. So friends the requirement
at VEDANTA is Huge…….So they are recruiting in Large numbers from the colleges
they are visiting.
Eligible Branches : Metallurgy, Chemical ,Mechanical, Electrical
Eligibility Criteria : 60% and above throughout in Secondary, +2 and in all semesters
(till date); No backlogs; Vision max -4 D ; Maximum 1 year drop after +2 b4 u join
college ;
One important thing about VEDANTA is that they are very strict about their Eligibility
Criteria. They are not relaxing the criteria whatsoever.
The Selection Procedure followed in our college was
1. Written
2. Interview ( Tech & H. R )
NO G D was conducted in our college
The written exam was a set of 35 easy simple questions to be completed in 50 mins .You
need not be an expert to solve these questions. Only 2 questions came from Verbal
Ability. It was a simple analogy. Another was a word meaning. There was a set of 6
puzzle problems where one has to identify A,B,C,D,E,F. Relevant informations were
given.
The APTI part was simple Class 10 questions involving simple SPEED-TIME-
DISTANCE problems (4questions on train crossing each other) , few numerical
sequential problems, simple Profit-Loss-Discount problems ( 3-4), there was set of 5-6
graphical interparatation problem ( between Demand and Supply of 3 companies), Few
Age problems, problems on simple Probability, Percentage problems…
This is all that I can recall at present but I can assure you that all the questions were very
easy and less time consuming.
The interview was very simple. Hardly any tech questions were asked.. Almost all the
guys who sat for the interview were selected. Out of the 35 students who were eligible to
sit only 13 qualified for the written out of which 12 were finally selected.
So guys GO FOR IT………………CHAKDE VEDANTA!!!!!!!

Recruitment for Vedanta:
It was started with an Aptitude test.(35 questions, 50 mins)
• First 5 questions were based on a bar dia. about demand and production.
• It was followed by quantitative part consisting of following chapters
1) Time and distance (examples on train)

2) Time and work
3) Percentage
4) Average (batsman's avg 'x' after 16 inninngs. he scored 90 in 17th and his avg
increased by 3. find avg after 17th inn.)
• venn dia. (5 marks) :
diff. geometrical shapes were related with each other and based on that 5 questions were
asked. (refer R.S. Aggrawal verbal and non-verbal reasoning)
• A puzzle was asked (5 marks) based on 6 person A,B,C,D,E & F

belonging to different centuries and interested in hindi, marathi,tamil, etc.
languages.
• It was followed by some questions belonging to coding, series completion,
etc.
Written test was easy to crack. Out of 27 students 19 were selected for G.D. but somehow
G.D. was cancelled. Next was the technical interview along with HR. And finally out of
19, 12 were selected. Believe in yourself. They need honest, energetic and confident
candidates.

Hi friends .i am final year student of chemical engineering got placed in vedanta this was my 7th
company,so always keep patience and confidence and wait for a lucky day.
the company expects that you fulfill technical skills and have general command on the core subjects.On
27th august vedanta conducted campus drive for our batch in which students of the branches EEE, ECE,
MECH, ICE AND CHEMICAL participated.
totally 37 students appeared out of which 21 cleared the aptitude test out of which 12 were selected for the
interview after GD and finally 4 out of 12 were selected.
In aptitude test questions were from R.S.AGARWAL quantitative book related to

percentage ,trains,boats,profit and loss,average,number analogy, data interpretation,venn diagrams.. so for
venn diagrams go through R.S.AGARWAL verbal ability book . for GD you should express yourself and
you should just speak something relevant to the topic.
for the INTERVIEW,they will ask questions regarding your area of interest ,industrial training ,industrial
visit(if any) and some easy questions from mccabe,like types of heat exchangers ,steam traps,flow
characterstics of fluid,name of some heat transfer equipments,some of the mechanical operations name...so
technical will be easy,they just ask basic questions...if you have one year break in studies.than you should
carry some proof in interview because they are very strict regarding this.
Be confident and always have faith in yourself and keep a smiling face in interview.

AFTER ATTENDING 11 COMPANIES I GOT PLACED IN VEDANTA SO DONT

LOSE HOPE.................
The company is generally requiring only persons with full of confidence and engineering
knowledge,they basically donot select people for the sake of selecting some nos they
expect when they come to college.They usually select people who is having 60% start
from X and till the latest course of study with no history of arrears even in X or XII TH
also ,they donnot take diploma holders.
In my collge we started with 34 and the elimination process was not very harsh and hence
30 were selected,after that GD inwhich they give chances to everyone and it was
encouraging. BUT 17 were selected for the next round.Finally there comes interview
which was very easy for me and they asked only some basic engineering questions. But
you should be serious while attending and not so cool ,better dont eat or drink any thing
they give bcse my friends were rejected for their cool answers and not being serious.
PLS TRY TO REVISE CONTROL SYSTEMS ,INSTRUMENTATION AND

MEASUREMENTS WHICH THEY ASK IN PARTICULAR. DON'T CONCENTRATE
ON YOUR APTITUDE BUT YOUR TECHNICAL SKILLS.
