2. Find the exponential Fourier series and plot the magnitude and phase spectrum for

5. (a) The waveform V(t)= e−t/Γ u(t) is passed through a high pass RC circuit having
a time constant Γ.
i. Find the energy spectral density at the output of the circuit.
ii. Show that the total output energy is one half the input energy.
(b) Find the cross correlation of the functions sin ωt and cos ωt. [8+8]

6. (a) Consider the signal x(t) = sinΠt

which to be sampled with a sampling
frequency of ωs = 150Π to obtain a signal g(t) with Fourier transform G(jω ).
Determine the maximum value of ω0 for which it is guaranteed that
G(jω) = 75 × (jω) f or |ω| ≤ ω0 where X(jω) is the Fourier transform of x(t).
(b) The signal x(t) = u(t + T0 ) − u(t − T0 ) can undergo impulse train sampling
without aliasing, provided that the sampling period T< 2T0 . Justify.
(c) The signal x(t) with Fourier transform X(jω) = u(ω + ω0 ) − u(ω − ω0 ) can
undergo impulse train sampling without aliasing, provided that the sampling
period T < π/ω0 . Justify. [6+5+5]

1. (a) Write short notes on “Orthogonal functions”.


(b) Define the following Elementary signals [8+8]
i. Real Exponential Signal
ii. Continuous time version of a sinusoidal signal and Bring out the relation
between Sinusoidal and complex exponential signals.
2. (a) State the Dirichlet’s condition for Fourier series.
(b) Find Trigonometric Fourier series for a periodic square waveform shown in
figure 2 which is symmetrical with respect to the vertical axis. [6+10]

4. (a) Sketch and explain characteristics of an ideal Low pass, High pass and Band
pass filters.
(b) Draw a circuit diagram of a physically realizable LPF. Sketch its impulse

5. (a) Explain briefly detection of periodic signals in the presence of noise by corre-
lation.
(b) Explain briefly extraction of a signal from noise by filtering. [8+8]
6. (a) A signal x(t)= 2 cos 400 π t + 6 cos 640 π t. is ideally sampled at fs = 500Hz.
If the sampled signal is passed through an ideal low pass filter with a cut off
frequency of 400 Hz, what frequency components will appear in the output.
(b) A rectangular pulse waveform shown in figure 6b is sampled once every TS
seconds and reconstructed using an ideal LPF with a cutoff frequency of fs /2.
Sketch the reconstructed waveform for Ts = 16 sec and Ts = 12 1
