WELCOME TO HOUSTON!
Exhibits are an integral part of the Turbomachinery Symposium each year.
Users from all over the world and different areas of the turbomachinery field come
to this symposium each year. They know they will be provided the most current
information and exhibits available supported by the most knowledgeable person-
nel. The Turbomachinery Laboratory appreciates the support of the exhibitors and
exhibiting companies. We strive each year to bring the best of the turbomachinery
world together for an event that is imitated but never duplicated.
Registered symposium attendees may go to our Exhibit Hall during any
scheduled exhibit session. Free Passes are offered for late afternoon sessions and
the Thursday session. The Free Pass allows access to the Exhibit Hall by area tur-
bomachinery users who cannot attend the technical sessions.

Companies wishing to exhibit in future Symposia should have a

representative plan to be at Booth Selection Session on Wednesday,
September 22, 2004, George R. Brown Convention Center, Room 319A.

Canopy Technologies introduces their newest product, a high-performance lightweight per-
manent magnet motor (HPL PMM), to the oil and gas industry. This motor is an electronic
machine for converting electrical power to mechanical power, and vice versa and employing
embedded permanent magnets in the rotor and a carefully adapted versions of widely used
stator design technology including cooling and bearing designs. The HPL PMM is the assem-
bly of the HPL rotor and the stator. These components have been developed together to sup-
port a wide range of power ratings at a given diameter. This motor can be used with gas
turbines and compressors in oil platforms, LNG plants, pipelines, chemical plants, and
nuclear submarines.

York International, founded in 1874, is a world leader in compressor technology, having built
thousands of multistage centrifugal compressors for installations worldwide for onshore and
offshore applications. Recently, York began manufacturing an oil free centrifugal compressor

In 1987, York acquired the Frick Company, also a 100+ year old company and a world
leader in the manufacture of oil injected screw compressors. To date, Frick has built more
than 60,000 screw compressors.
Together, York and Frick combine years of experience in refrigeration and gas compression
for the oil, gas, and petrochemical industry.
