Missal Translations
On November 27, 2011, the English speaking
Church in the USA will begin using a new
translation of the prayers used at Mass (The Roman
Missal). A series of Questions and Answers on this
topic will be posted here to help explain the thinking
behind these changes. Please check back weekly.

5. Can we start using the texts approved by the
bishops immediately?
The translation of the Missale Romanum could not
be used in the celebration of the Mass until the
complete text was confirmed by the Holy See. Now
that the translation has received the recognitio, the
USCCB has established the first day on which the
new translation may be used. Use of the revised text
requires preparation and catechesis for both priests
and the faithful. When the time comes to use the
texts in the celebration of the Mass, priests will be
properly trained, the faithful will have an
understanding and appreciation of what is being
prayed, and musical settings for the liturgical texts
will be readily available.
6. What will the process of implementation look
like?
Now that the recognitio has been granted, final
preparation and publication of the Missal will
commence. Catechesis on the new translation and on
the Liturgy itself will become even more important.
Training for priests, music ministers, and other
liturgical leaders (liturgy committees and liturgical
commissions), as well as formation for all Catholics,
will help to ensure the successful implementation of
the new text.

complimentary Soup Supper at 5:30 p.m. in the
Academy Cafeteria followed by the Stations of the
Cross in the Church at 7:30 p.m.

The Parish Library
Tomas and the Rainbow is the title of a DVD
available in your Parish Library. It is a film from
Feature Films for Families
(www.familytv.com.). I viewed the film this week
and I highly recommend it. Feature Films are
designed for family viewing and of great quality.
This film stars Aiden Quinn and is set in Ireland.
Tomas, the main character, has been living in an
orphanage but his whole world changes when he is
taken home by a married couple. Feature Films
contain valuable messages for our children. This
film speaks to us about Love, Acceptance, Hope and
Family. Each Feature Film suggests questions to
share with your family.

Marriage Anniversary Masses
The Archdiocese will celebrate anniversary
Masses commemorating special years for couples.
On May 1, 2011 couples celebrating 50 years of
marriage or more are invited to the Cathedral at 3:00
p.m. for Mass with the Archbishop. On June 12,
2011, couples celebrating 25 years and 5 years of
marriage are invited to the Cathedral for Mass with
the Archbishop at 3:00 p.m.

2012 Mass Intention and
Altar Memorial Books are Open
Our Mass Intention and Altar Memorial Books
opened on Friday, April 1st for 2012. The rectory
office is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00
p.m., Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and
again from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. The rectory office is
also open on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Each person who visits will be allowed to choose
three Masses for their loved ones and friends.
If you would like to request more then three
Masses, you are invited to return the following
month to ask for up to three additional Masses.
Please note that Mass requests should be made in
person.
Youth Ministry Gathering THIS SUNDAY,
April 3rd from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm in the Parish Hall
– “Under Construction.” We’ll take a look at where
we’re at and where we need to go with our
relationships, school, goals, commitments, our faith,
etc. Anyone in grades 9-12 is invited to attend, so
bring a friend!
The HS Youth Ministry has been busy this Lent
helping with projects for OLP. Thank you to those
who volunteered to baby-sit during the parish mission
– Heather Gregory, Justin Crisciore, Joe Cunder,
Ciaran Freeman, Colin Freeman, Cara Esposito, and
Sam Janazzo. And thank you to Luisa Ahearn and
Maria Salis for making the Nail Prayer Cards for the
parishioners.
Come support the young people of OLP on Friday,
April 8th when they will be serving soup for the Soup
Supper and leading us in the Stations of the Cross.

Living Stations of the Cross
and Soup Supper
Please join us on Friday, April 15th, for a Soup
Supper followed by the Living Stations of the
Cross at Our Lady of Peace Parish. The
complimentary Soup Supper will be held in the
Cafeteria at The Academy of Our Lady of Peace
School. After dinner, walk over to the church to
bear witness to The Living Stations of the Cross.
The students of The Academy of OLP will re-
enact the steps, suffering and passion of Jesus
Christ. This moving service is a prayerful and
spiritual way to refocus on the meaning of Lent
and prepare for Holy Week. The Soup Supper
will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in The
Academy of OLP Cafeteria, and the Living
Stations of the Cross will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the
Church.
