without the media (radio, tv,
newspapers) reporting about the
gruesome rapes of old women, women
and girls in general. The phenomena of
old women being raped in their homes
at night is new in Lesotho

• We literally conduct periodic visits to

rural areas, especially areas with high

incidences of gender- based violence.

We also run weekly programmes on
local radio station called Mo- Afrika
FM. Its listenership consists primarily
of our target market- ignorant women
trapped in rural traditional life

strive to help eliminate the causes of

2003 , found to have been passed as

 LESSONS LEARNED

• 1. Debates on women’s welfare ,

especially in respect of ending GBV

against women and children has to be

given more attention in the media
because we want future generations
to live in a better society
• We also need to spread education
deeply to grassroots communities
