IS THIS ISSUE IMPORTANT?
• Yes.
• Namibians is a highly religious nation.

• Churches are grass root organization where most of
the families are represented, better organized with
broader membership base.
• Members of the churches have undoubted faith,
believe, respect and trust in the church and their
church leadership.
• This makes these Religious institutions the ideal
organizations to compliment and strengthen the
campaign violence against women and children
RESPONSE
HOW ARE YOU GOING ABOUT ADDRESSING THI S
PROBLEM?
• Public mobilization demonstration (Conference ).

• Preaching and teaching sessions on Gender base
violence v/s the bible.
• Counseling services and inspirational teachings to
violence survivors (victims).
• Council of Churches in Namibia
• Radio interviews (Different languages).
• Day care- dismembered children’s (victims).

WHAT IS THE TIME-FRAME FOR THE
PROJECT?
• 5 years-2010-2015. We want to link this with

the SADC Protocol deadline on half GBV by
2015.

HUMAN AND OTHER RESOURCES WERE
MOBILISED?
• Genderlinks: meals, refreshment, stationaries. e.g.

• Local fund raising activities.
• Church small contribution.
• Occasional donors (Individual, Business
personality).
• Church influential speakers and Motivational
Speakers

MONITORING AND EVALUATION
• The supervision of the activities is in the hands of

the coordinating committee through inspections and
reports from participating institutions.
• Participation and involvement in main arranged
programs is also a tool of monitoring the involved
organizations.
• Mini plan of action for every church reviewed
regularly.

WHAT RESULTS HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED?
• Churches are highly sensitized and

awareness is growing very satisfactory.
• Active and positive response which stimulate
participation and involvement.
• Most victims are coming out (reporting)-
(women and children) affected children are
indentified on regular bases.

• Building women networks for mutual support.
• Address the concerns of women in a multi-cultural, multi-
ethic and spiritual context.
• Promotion of women participation and involvement in
development programs.
• Build networks among women to encourage bonds of
friendship and creative exchange of ideas and
information.
• Sensitizing man to regard women as equal partner in the
social set-up.
• Sensitize the community on the importance of family as
a significant unit in the social set-up.
EFFECTIVENESS
• Yes. The project is very effective because of the role

the church play in the community and the trust the
members have in this institution.
• Churches are well place for faster transmision of
