Which exam date can I register for?


You can register for any IELTS date up to June 2006.

What is the fee for the IELTS?


The fee is LE 755.

Is there a deadline for registering?


There is no deadline but once a session is fully-booked, we can not accept any more registrations for it. This
happens at peak times so it is best to book early.

Do I have to register for the exam in person?


Another person may bring your application form with a copy of your ID or passport and pay the fee. However
you, the candidate, must sign the application form and it is preferable that you also fill in the details on the form
yourself.

What happens if I can not attend the exam?


You will be counted as absent (i.e. this test will not be counted as a test taken). Please note that you will not
receive a refund unless you have given five weeks’ notice in person.
If you notify us of your cancellation at least five weeks prior to the exam date, we will be able to give you a full
refund less LE100 administration charges. To claim a refund, you will need to come in person to the British
Council with your payment of receipt.

What should I do if I want to postpone?


If you wish to postpone your test, you must inform Examination Services in writing at least five weeks prior to
the test date. A postponement costs LE50 and may be made only once.

What time should I arrive on the day of the exam?


You must arrive by 0815. If you arrive later, you risk not being admitted to the exam.

What should I bring with me?


Please bring your ID card or passport that you have attached a copy of with your application. We provide pen,
pencil and eraser but you may bring your own if you prefer. You may also wish to bring a small bottle of water.

Any other belongings, including handbags and mobile phones, must be left at the front of the examination room
during the exam. They will be returned to you after the exam.

Are there any security checks?


Your bags will be searched when you enter the exam location. You may also be searched as you enter the
exam room.

Is there a break during the exam?


No, there are no breaks between the listening, reading and writing papers. Candidates will be required to remain
seated throughout (approximately 3 hours); bathroom visits are allowed. This is an international security
requirement.

What time does the exam finish?


This depends on the time of your oral interview. You will finish by 3.00 p.m.

When will I get my results?
All results are available 2 weeks after the exam date.

When and where can I receive my results?


If you sit the test in Agouza or Heliopolis, you can pick up your results at the British Council in Agouza.
If you take your test in Alexandria, the test results will be waiting for collection there.
You can arrange for your results to be collected from another British Council if you speak to the IELTS
administrator.

Can I have another copy of my results?


Due to University of Cambridge regulations candidates receive one original copy of their Test Report Form.
You can request up to five free originals to be sent directly to the receiving educational institutions. We charge
L.E.60 postal costs per Test Report Form sent to the UK or Canada and LE160 to send Test Report Forms to
Australia.

Can I send someone to collect my test results?


Another person may collect you results as long as they have your ID card or passport and an authorisation letter
written by you.

Can I know my results over the phone, fax or email?


Results are never given out over the phone or by fax or e-mail. We can send your results to your mobile phone
if you give us permission.

Can I have my papers remarked locally?


If there is a large difference between the 4 scores of your papers, your papers are re-checked automatically.
However local re-marking is not available on request.

Can I have my papers re-marked?


You can request your papers (all of them or individual papers) to be re-marked in the UK. This service costs £60
and takes a minimum of 2 months.
