short description of these institutions is included below, along with biographical
information regarding the time Dr. Roudner spent at the hospitals.

* Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Surgical Resident, 1971-1972.

Located just outside of Herston in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, the Royal Brisbane
and Women’s Hospital, formerly known as the Brisbane General Hospital, currently
maintains just fewer than 1,000 beds. The medical center’s services include community
and mental health services; inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services; aged care
services; and public health programs.

* Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Surgical Resident, 1973.

Mater Private Hospital in Brisbane, formerly known as Mater Misericordiae Hospital,


belongs to the collocated health care provider Mater Health Services. Founded in 1906 by
the Sisters of Mercy, Mater Health Services continues their dedication to providing high-
quality health care by serving more than 500,000 patients each year.

* Mount Sinai Hospital, Surgical Resident, 1975-1978.

Established in 1852, Mount Sinai Hospital represents one of the largest and oldest
teaching hospitals in the United States. With exceptional ratings in 11 separate medical
specialty areas from the U.S. News & World Report’s medical school rankings, Mount
Sinai Hospital maintains an unparalleled record of excellence in the training of medical
practitioners. The institution has served as a training hospital for some of medicine’s
most distinguished pioneers, including Jonas Salk, the inventor of the polio vaccine, and
Michael Heidelberger, widely regarded as the “father of immunology.”

* Cook County Hospital Chicago, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Resident, 1978-
1981.

Formerly known as Cook County Hospital, the John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook
County has provided state-of-the-art patient care to Chicagoland residents since its first
incarnation as the Poor House, an organization established by the Chicago Board of
Commissioners to provide free medical care to individuals in underserved areas of the
city. With a particular focus on clinical teaching, John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital employs
over 300 full-time faculty and offers in-depth individualized training in 13 medical
subspecialty areas.
