You are fairly satisfied with, your levels of resilience and your determination to try again after a setback or
disappointment. This is very good and you should be pleased with yourself in this area. However, if you find
that things are not actually going well for you in this area from time to time, relax and sit quietly for a few

someone else for moral or legal reasons you have still been faithful to yourself.
It is not surprising that you are not fully aware that you control what enters your brain. From the moment of
birth our brains are bombarded with unsolicited information much of which we have no control over. It is
believed that the brain cannot tell the difference between a real or imagined experience. Therefore it is
unlikely to be able to distinguish which of the information it is fed is good or bad, accurate or inaccurate,
positive or negative. Once you as a human were able to make those distinctions for yourself by way of
reasoning you began to make those decisions for yourself. Probably you started this reasoning process
around the age of three. From 24 to 36 months and you like all other young children probably experienced
huge frustration as you battled to understand what was going on in your world. This is why parents of
children of this age often refer to the terrible twos. Over the years you then develop your own system of
values upon which you then make your decisions. The problem is that you have already accepted into your
brain receptor cells much in the way of negative information about your self and others. There is a way to
reverse this process and then only accept positive into your brain. What you do is in effect install a negative
filter which, stops anything of a negative nature being recorded. Now of course you cannot delete what is
already recorded in your brain but you can so flood your brain with positive from now on that any negative
within you can be submerged under a sea of positive thoughts. You can be sure you are not alone in
admitting some degree of ignorance regarding this topic. You though unlike many others do have the insight
into the problem and from here you can begin to develop a method of ensuring you refuse to accept any
further negative into your brain.
Building mental defences to protect yourself against negative influences is a most desirable ability. You
suggest that you may find difficulty in building such mental defences. The first step to correcting this situation
is to determine to take charge and take control of your own life. The good news is that you then have the
opportunity to learn new techniques and ways of building mental defences.
Yielding to temptation means that you lose control and that you may become overwhelmed by the object of
your fascination. You are aware that you are sometimes led away from your true course in life by what are
mere distractions. By developing the ability to resist what is not important (but which seems enticing) you
can attain more satisfaction and success in life.
Bad-temperedness, and losing ones temper, even in childhood can be predictors of lack of success in future
life. The more you are able to control your moods, the more you are in control of your life. Further, you feel
you lose control too often, however, not to too great a degree. At least you appreciate that there is a
problem, and this is the first step to making improvements, so you can fully benefit from being more in
control of your moods and relate better with people.
This question relates to the previous one. As a child, you might have got what you wanted by sulking or
throwing a tantrum, but in adult life it rarely works. You may be aware how counter-productive this technique
is, and you are able to control it somewhat, but you need to learn how you can totally relinquish it.
Whilst speaking kindly about other people can lead to success, speaking unkindly about others is rarely
beneficial. It is often the result of yielding to the moment and expressing false superiority over others and
pleasing the listener (or not). It reflects a lack of self-control, and perhaps awareness. When we have a
problem with another person, we should normally resolve that issue with that person, and not 'natter' about
them to others. Fortunately, you can resist this temptation and you may have sufficient awareness to know
you can learn how to be more in control.
Loosing control, whether by becoming angry or afraid prevents you from fully achieving what you want or
being the person you want to be. When you easily lose control or become flustered, then you are often
controlled by other people or circumstances. You feel you are generally not calm under all circumstances,
which means you can benefit by learning more in the area of control.
You believe that, usually, you do face up to the facts, but not always. By reacting to the world by denying the
truth, whether it is good or bad, means that you do not have the information you need to follow your path
through life. Your world becomes a kind of fantasy world or a mysterious one, where nothing seems to make
sense, except in an illusionary way. Because you are aware of those occasions when you don't face the
facts, you have the awareness to seek new knowledge to improve.

Planning is certainly one of your weaker suits. Your responses are on the negative side of Planning. This
means that you do not, in general, feel you plan your life. While most people do not make a life plan, or plan
their activities, it seems that those who do plan are the ones that succeed, find happiness and give meaning
to their lives and activities. It also seems that even though the plan may have to be changed, perhaps
radically, during the course of the project, the fact that there is a plan seems to make attaining the goal more

Not thinking ahead and confirming your actions are right can lead to problems. If you do not prior to action,
positively visualise the steps to be taken in any plan you may miss pre existing conditions, which in effect
render your plan ineffective. Thinking things through in advance of action helps you to understand how your
plan may be possible, in various ways, and how it may be ethical or not. The consequences of your plan are
an important part of planning and should be considered. Hopefully, an unethical plan would never be
successful in the long term. But without a little thought beforehand, you are in danger of creating plans
which, even if attained, will not create success and happiness, and will negatively impact on the
purposefulness of your life.
If you seldom finish what you start, then you seldom attain your goals and the success, happiness and life
meaning that follows. Goals that are well-planned will only rarely prove to be unworthy, and therefore
abandoned. Therefore, when we almost always fail to attain our goals, it means we lack the knowledge of
planning to attain them. Part of planning concerns motivation, and a well-planned goal is itself motivating, as
you will learn. When you become knowledgeable in planning, you will attain more and more of what you
desire.
You sometimes find it hard to plan your work. Planning is more than mechanical attainment of worldly things,
and your difficulty in planning your work may relate to your personal plans and your life plan (or absence of
these). By learning to plan, you can use this knowledge to improve all aspects of your life.
As you have not fully planned your life, you may find that things do not turn out as you expect, and that some
things seem extremely difficult. Planning your life enables you to make sense of many of the things you do
and motivate you to do them. You can benefit greatly by learning how to plan effectively.
Another point is that you do not always plan the rewards you want from your efforts. Planning isn't just some
mechanical activity. It is extremely personal and should be motivating. Life isn't merely about the attainment
of things, such as wealth. It is also about being happy. The rewards from our efforts include physical
rewards, status and happiness. By planning for these, you can avoid pursuing goals which will not give you
what you want and also ensure you attain what you want. Whilst a slave might work for nothing, a free
person expects and needs at least minimum rewards. As you have the choice decide not to live your life as a
slave.
You rarely plan anything. You normally ad-lib (improvise). Whilst it is good to be able to improvise when
necessary, such as when there isn't time to prepare, success and happiness are more often attained through
proper planning.
Since you have planned a personal contribution to society, you may have some crucial knowledge about
planning and life success. Planning is not merely objective and limited to the needs of oneself or of one's
group or organisation. It has to fit in with the larger whole. At the very least an ethical goal does not go
against society. However, more is often needed. Having a personal contribution to society or having this
within your plans is something that not only benefits others, but also strengthens our own plans and makes it
easier for us to attain our goals.
Ensuring that your goals are measurable is part of the planning process. The word measurable causes
problems for some people. As you will learn, in a way 'measurable' means 'how we know we have attained
our goal'. If there is no way to tell whether we have attained our goal in part or whole, then we can never
know when we have succeeded. Sometimes we can do this with numbers. Sometimes we use a judgement
whether things are better or not. In any event, we need to think out beforehand how we will know whether we
have succeeded or to what degree we have succeeded. By not thinking out beforehand how you will
measure the results of your activities, you are not using all the techniques of planning.
You rarely visualise your goals. Visualising your goals enables you to quality check your ideas in several
ways, including whether the goal is feasible or not. By visualising your goals beforehand you can also check
whether what you are striving for is actually something you really want, and whether it is something that will
make you happy.
Because you do not create a time table for your goals, you cannot check whether they are attainable,
realistic, etc, and are less likely to attain them. Clearly some things are impossible in the short term, although
they may be possible over a longer period. By limiting what we do over the short term to what is possible,
etc, we are more likely to attain our goals, and to attain the greater goals in a step-by-step manner over the
longer term.

Concentration is one of your weaker suits. This means that you do not feel you use your ability to direct your
mind. Concentration involves powerfully directing your mind towards something. When our minds flitter from
one thing to another depending on what currently is in focus, we find it hard to achieve our goals and to
develop. By learning to concentrate we can increase our success and happiness.
Your responses suggest that you have low powers of concentration. You are not alone. The ability to
concentrate fully on a particular objective to the exclusion of all else is a skill not learned or practised by
many. However if you are able to focus on a clear direction in your life then you are well on the way to

many life tasks incomplete.

will all have to apply ourselves mentally to things we find boring.
You are not alone most people are sometimes bothered by distracting thoughts. Many thoughts race through
our minds in a single day. The critical skill to employ here is one of concentration on the matter in hand. If
however a particular thought has merit or is an intuitive answer to a problem you have been trying to solve,
write it down and then get on with the current tasks. When the task of the moment is completed you may
then apply yourself to the thought you wrote down. If you do not write out these thoughts they may keep
popping up to distract you again and again , or even worse be lost forever.
