- Scholarship study must align with the Vietnam-
Australia Statement of Commitment and one of
Vietnam’s key development themes.
- Candidates are selected based on academic
results, relevance of proposed study, potential
contribution to Vietnam’s development and
leadership qualities.
Type, Level and Number of Scholarships ___
- 245 ADS/ALA awards are available this year for
postgraduate study in Australia starting from
2012.
- Applicants can apply for both ADS and ALAS
awards through one selection process; ALAS
awards are for outstanding potential leaders.
- Awardees will start their study in Australia
between 8 to 18 months after applications close
depending on their English language level.
- Men and women from provincial and rural
areas are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Special priority and support is offered to
Disadvantaged Applicants (ie. those from
designated disadvantaged rural areas, ethnic
minorities and those with disabilities).

The Application Process________________
- Please read this document carefully and refer to
the ADS/ALA 2011 Handbook and the FAQs before
completing the Application Form.
- All applicants must apply online (except ADS Profile
1 candidates, who are encouraged to apply online).
- All applicants must submit (i) hard copies of their
completed Application Form and any
documentation requested within it, (ii) the
Additional Form at the end of this document and
(iii) two passport-size photos.
- All applicants must submit an IELTS or TOEFL
Certificate valid until 1 March 2012 (except ADS
Profile 1 candidates, unless they have a certificate
already).
- All applicants are encouraged to submit a
Conditional or Unconditional University Offer to
commence study in Australia in 2012 if they have
already have one.
- PhD and Masters by Research candidates are
encouraged to make contact with potential
supervisors.

The deadline for receiving all of the above
information is 12 noon (Hanoi time) on 31 May
2011.
Eligibility_____________________________
All applicants must:
- be a Vietnamese citizen, a current Vietnamese
resident, and without permanent residency in
another country;
- be no more than 45 years of age on 31 May
2011;
- have at least two years relevant recent work
experience in Vietnam, except for
Disadvantaged Applicants (evidence must be
provided if short-listed);
- have completed a formal undergraduate degree
(for Masters candidates) or Masters degree (for
PhD candidates);
- commit to return to work in Vietnam for at least
two years after they finish their Australian
course; and
- fit within one of the three profiles outlined in
the Additional Form below.

Preparatory Training_________________
- The ADS scholarship covers full-time, in-
country English training of up to 7 months,
as required
- Comprehensive assistance is provided
regarding university placement, visa and
medical assistance, pre-departure briefings
and support in Australia
