CEMCA announces the

CEMCA Community Radio Awards for Good


Practices 2011
1. CEMCA invites applications from all functional
community radio stations to celebrate and share good
practices to engage the community and to sustain
their stations.

2. Categories of Award: There are four categories of


awards

• Thematic Award (Thematic focus : relevant to community)


– how was the theme chosen, executed, what was the
format, local relevance, local participation etc must be
described

• Community Engagement Award

Entries must reflect engagement of community and address


the communities’ local concerns

• Promoting Local Culture Award (preservation and


promotion) Entries can be in any language but must be
accompanied by a description of what efforts were made to
promote local culture

• Sustainability Model Award - Innovative Business


Model – no MP3 needs to be submitted for this category,
but documented proof will be required with the entries

3. Terms and Conditions for Submission


• Each station can send a maximum of two entries for any
of the above four categories. Only one entry will be
accepted per category. All submissions must be
accompanied with proof, what do we expect them to say

• Only functional radio stations can submit entries. Content


providing organizations are not eligible to apply

• Any programme broadcast in local language may also be


submitted. However, a brief summary in English/Hindi
must

• All entries for the first three categories must be submitted


with the following:

• - 250 word description of the programme in


English/Hindi to be sent as a pdf file attachment in an
email

• - Please send a programme schedule as proof of its


broadcast (including the date of broadcast)

• - if entries are in any other language, please provide a


brief (150 words translation/ summary in English/Hindi)

• - mp3 (max 15 minutes clip) of the programme entry


for consideration as a mail attachment

• Under production entries are not accepted

• For the Sustainability Award category - Documentary


proof is required to demonstrate the sourcing of funds/
model/ agency from where support was received. A
description of innovative models will also be accepted. For
example, Government’s grant-in-aid, projects, special
services rendered to institutions, studio time renting, etc.

• Do you have any media or photographic coverage to
support your application? Please send a press clipping and
a brief English/hindi summary if in any other language

• 15 minutes programme in MP3 format to be sent by


email along with a note to describe your entry to be
saved as a pdf file and sent to jchittoor@gmail.com
and vipincsharma@gmail.com – to be sent by 12.00
noon on 5th April 2011

Other Terms and Conditions:

1. Decision of the jury will be final

2. Canvassing or campaigning in any form will lead to


disqualification

3. Jury meeting will take place on 5th and 6th at CEMCA.

4. Entires can only be made by operational community radio


stations

5. Awards will be announced at the CR Sammelan to be held at


Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on 7th April 2011
