Firmware should only be installed through the receiver’s Com 2. Cycle power on the receiver after completion of the firmware update
process. Do not interrupt or power off the receiver during the firmware update process. Make note of the receiver’s current
configuration, as the firmware update process may reset the receiver’s settings.
Use of Install Utility is recommended for installation of the new receiver firmware. Install Utility is provided with the firmware files.
Instructions are included in this document. Force the Install program to load all versions of firmware including the GPS engine, IOP and
LBM even if not checked by default.
Always install the new firmware with the antenna connected and in an area where the receiver has the ability to track satellites.
StarUtil is not supported with this release of firmware. Use only the latest versions of C-Setup, C-Monitor, and C-NaviGator software.

Software Changes/Improvements
C-Nav® P3QC implementation
o Complies with IMO RAIM standards and UKOOA Guidelines for the Use of Differential GPS in Offshore Surveying quality
indicators.
o Added NMEA output messages to support P3QC – PNCTGST, MDE, and GRS.
Corrected an error on binary message 0x9C to report the stated ENUM values for correction Type used
Corrected an error on binary message 0x8C which showed a fixed Time of Week value for each message received when the rover
operates in RTCM 18/19 & 20/21
Updated the C-Nav correction satellite location lookup table to reflect the recent satellite and frequency change in the constellation.
Implemented an SBAS geo-fencing feature to reduce the likelihood of applying SBAS corrections to the position solution when the
receiver is not within the defined SBAS Iono grid. This applies to the current active SBAS systems (WAAS, EGNOS, and MSAS)

C-Nav2050 Firmware Release Notice Revision: A
Version 5.1.13 Issue Date: 11/5/2009
Now select Install. The firmware will now be updated in three processes, LBM -> IOP -> GPS. Do not interrupt the firmware update as
this may render the receiver unusable. Please allow 20-30 minutes for the firmware update process to complete.
After all three processes have completed, you will be prompted to manually cycle power on the
receiver. After cycling power on the receiver, select OK and exit the Install Utility. The C-Nav2050
receiver may appear to be unresponsive for 10-15 minutes after the firmware update while
downloading a new almanac.
