We, the Drive Alive At 65 Committee, are presenting this petition on behalf of all road users, pedestrians,
residents that live along the Kafue Road, and the Greater Lusaka Community. Our focus is on the issue of the
lack of road safety and the increasing number of fatalities occurring between Kafue Roundabout in Lusaka and
Chilanga Town. This road has an unusually high number of accidents and fatalities claiming the lives of children,
brothers, fathers, husbands, sisters, mothers and wives.
The loss of any life directly affects the ability of the country to achieve its fullest potential and places an economic
burden upon the State. The death of any person also places an even greater strain on the family and community,
who are then forced to ask questions about what factors are responsible for these unnecessary and untimely
deaths.
The deterioration of the safety of Kafue Road has directly resulted in an increasing number of accidents and
fatalities. This petition is a request from all people who have signed and on behalf of the Greater Lusaka
Community, that the Council and Government act in conjunction with the community to improve the safety of the
road and avoid any more unnecessary deaths along the Kafue Road.
There are a number of immediate actions that could occur to improve the safety of the road:
These actions will enable motorists and pedestrians to use the Kafue Road without fear throughout the day and
night. Failure to act will ensure that more people will perish along this road.
This petition is prepared by, and on behalf of, the Drive Alive At 65 Committee. If you have any further comments
or suggestions please contact the persons listed below by phone or email.
Thank You.
