Course Objective: This course would provide the students the most
comprehensive and leading-edge discussion of information technology and system
issues that are transforming the business world today. The course will also have
contents like essential of new technologies, their applications, and their impact on
managerial decisions. The course would help students to thoroughly understand
how today the most widely deployed enterprise applications work, offer value, and
present both the opportunities and challenges for successful implementation. This
course gives insight into the crucial performance management and decision support
issues that are driving significant new technology investments and shows how
companies are using these systems to improve performance and decision making.

Overall, we will have both conceptual understanding and practical implications of


various modern aspects of MIS applications, which are in use in massive enterprises
worldwide. Examples of such from both Bangladeshi and Foreign Business Firms
will be provided during classes for better understanding.

• Mid Term - 1 :20% B+ B B-
• Mid Term - 2 :20% 83 - 86 80 - 82 77 - 79
• Practical :05% C+ C C-
• Final Exam :30% 73 - 76 70 - 72 67 - 69
• Assignment :05% D+ D F
• Presentation :05% 63 - 66 60 - 62 below 60

Attendance & Class Participation:


It is important to attend all classes for getting credit towards attendance & class
participation (05%) points. In each class, attendance will be recorded and very often,
opportunity for active participation will be provided for students during class time. Such
participation opportunities will be both voluntary and mandatory.

Quizzes:
Throughout the semester, a total of 5 quizzes will be taken. Students will be evaluated on
the average of 4 quizzes and one case study. Quiz dates, question types and other details
will be announced in the classes well in advance. There will be absolutely no make up of
quizzes for those who will be missing. Quizzes carry 10% marks.

Mid Terms:
There will be 2 mid terms of this course. Mid term 1 will carry 20% marks and mid term 2 will
carry 20%. I’ll be taking the exams on the same date as stated in page 4 of this outline.
There will be thorough classroom discussions about the mid term exams, question types,
preparation tips, etc. well in advance.

Final Exam:
Final exam carries significantly 30% marks. Again, discussions about the exam, question
types, preparation tips, etc. will be conducted well in advance.

Assignment & Presentation:


There will be group assignment(s) to be completed by students for this course. Assignments
tasks could cover a variety of topics or a variety of tasks. The tasks will be discusses in
classes. Such assignments will carry 5% marks. There will be group presentation after mid
term 2, for all students. Presentation will carry another 5% marks.
Computer Lab Session:
There will be one computer lab session during the middle of the course as stated. Instruction
about the lab uses and lab tasks will be demonstrated in the classes in advance. There will
be one practical examination. Practical examination carries 05% marks

Lecture Slides:
Lecture slides will be available for students in digital form. Students are welcome to collect
those after end of the class from classroom, from my office during office hours. Slides will be
also available on the SHARE server and also on the web.

• Class Schedule may change due to unavoidable circumstances.


• Any academic dishonesty or cheating in exams will result an “F” grade in the course.
