THEME 1: ASSIGNMENT 1

The design of a learning activity (lesson) using ICT in the classroom may improve teaching
and learning depending on how a teacher uses ICT tools and how learning theories are
included in such a design.

1. Use Microsoft PowerPoint to design a sample lesson from your learning area that
incorporates a constructivist theory. The presentation should include AT LEAST 10 slides.

The format of your presentation should be logically set out as follows:

 First slide - The title of the presentation

 Second slide - Introduction slide and lesson outcomes
 Third slide – Create a menu using hyperlinks to learning content slides (at least 3)
 Three slides of learning content for learning. Make use of hyperlinks back to the
menu slide
 One slide with a set of questions
 One slide of Incorrect answers – link back to the question slide or content slides
 One slide of Correct answers - link back to the question slide if it is necessary
 One slide concluding the lesson

2. ASSESSMENT TASK/TEST DEVELOPERS, who will prepare it using the same topic and
resource showing the distribution of marks. It must be out of 75
• Use Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy for assessment and types of questions should vary

3. Use Microsoft Word to explain how a constructivist theory is/was included in the
design of a sample lesson. You have formed a group of six members with roles allocated to
each member. The four roles are:

 Lesson designers, who will design a lesson plan to present it to a class on the
provided topic. Use acceptable format and components of lesson design.
(25)
 Assessment task/test developers: based on the topic. (20)
 The memorandum developers, preparing a marking memorandum for the test or
assessment task. (20)
 Designers of constructivist theory; who will demonstrate how a constructivist
teaching and learning theory was included in the design of a lesson. (15)

You need to work together and develop four documents to be assessed.

Each member should submit four files in the Google – Group - EmdCie as well as in
