Summary of the movie
Dan Foreman is headed for a shakeup. He is demoted from head of ad sales for a major
magazine when the company he works for is acquired in a corporate takeover. His new
boss, Carter Duryea, is half his age--a business school prodigy who preaches corporate
synergy. While Dan develops clients through handshake deals and relationships, Carter
cross-promotes the magazine with the cell phone division and Krispity Krunch, an
indeterminate snack food under the same corporate umbrella. Both men are going
through turmoil at home. Dan has two daughters, Alex, age 18, and Jana, age 16, and is
shocked when his wife tells him she's pregnant with a new child. Carter, in the
meanwhile, is dumped by his wife of seven months just as he gets his promotion. Dan
and Carter's uneasy friendship is thrown into jeopardy when Carter falls for, and begins
an affair with, Dan's daughter Alex.

Personality of the hero Dan Foreman

According to me hero of the movie is “DAN” because he play his role very well towards
his job and his family both. He faces lots of difficulties but he never loses his confidence
and patience and finds the way how to solve the problem.

Dan Foreman is a good man with a good family, a beautiful wife, two daughters that he
adores and protects with a passion, and a good job as a salesman for a sports magazine.
Dan loves his job. He likes it because it allows him to make a comfortable living, care for
his family, and at the same time help out businesses he knows can benefit from exposure
in the magazine. All that changes when Dan’s company gets swept up in a hostile
takeover by an infamous mogul named Teddy K, and 26-year old Carter Duryea arrives
to take Dan’s job.

Human Resource issue in the movie-
There are many human resource issues in the movie which is as follows:-

Takeover: - The movie basically focuses on take over. When “globcom multimedia”
takeover the “sports America magazine “where Dan is working. Dan has worked as a
head of sales for 20 years.

Reverse mentoring: - Dan started to train his new boss who is just 26 year old young
man. His new boss Carter pays full attention towards Dan’s words.

Demotion: - When globcom multimedia takeover the sports America magazine than
carter is posted on the post of Dan and Dan is demoted on his current position.

Corporate restructuring: - When takeover made successfully than the entire structure
of top management of the company is changed.

Downsizing: - When carter came into power he starts reducing the staff because
company is facing loss. By doing so he thinks that he can save some money of his
company.

Culture change: - Due to the change in the company the working culture of the company
is also change and the employee of the company start facing the problem. They were not
able to adjust themselves easily in the new culture.

No balance between professional and personal life:- Dan was not able to balance his
personal as well as his professional life together. He was facing lots of problem while
managing both. His life was not stable.

Mid life crises:- Dan was 51 years of age and at this sort of time he was not has been
demoted from his job, one more baby in his life.

Stress: Dan was having lots of stress in his mind because he was demoted, her daughter
needs to be shifted in new college and one more baby is coming in the family.

Psychological prospective in the movie: -

Emotion: - when carter the new boss of Dan ordered him to fire some of the employee
from the organization than Dan refuse his order because he is emotionally attach with the
employee because he was the one who hired them some time before and the performance
and behavior of the employee is so good that’s why he do not want to fire them.
Behavior of identified person “Dan Foreman”

Dan was a very polite person, having lots of patience. He cooperates with his new boss
though his boss was very younger than him. He was a good husband and a caring father
too. Dan half-heartedly extends an invitation to Carter to join his family for dinner. Dan
was emotionally attached to his co workers. Dan has little desire to be Carter’s “wing
man,” he needs his job as much as Carter needs his. Forging a tenuous relationship out of
corporate necessity, the two begin working together to meet Globecom’s mandate of
cutting the department’s budget while increasing revenue by 35 percent. Dan treats his
stall as his family.

Suggestion:
According to me one should balance his personal and professional life in such a way so
that he doesn’t have any stress in his mind. He can take his own decision without any
ones pressure. One should not sacrifice a lot so that sacrifice can harm his life.

Conclusion
In Good Company the movie is really a heartfelt movie that touches on the elements of
human behavior. It shows that how situation changes the life of a person. Situations teach
us a new lesson each and everyday. We the human beings learn from our own mistakes.
A very human story of the unlikely relationship between two men who find their
satisfying, status quo existences disrupted by the startling truth that they no longer have
any control over both the professional and personal sides of their lives. In the process,
Dan had artfully tapped into the emotional and economic zeitgeist that resounded with a
multitude of people—the prevailing sentiment that, in this new world order of huge
multinational corporations, nearly everyone has a story of a family member or friend who
has been displaced, downsized or affected in some capacity.
