Based on our survey, there are four companies which selling the same product as our company. Our product is the cheapest compared to
these four companies. The reason why our sales price is far away cheaper than others is because we are able to get cheaper stock from the
dealer. Besides, our main customer lines are most probably student. Hence, we do not want to raise our stock price too much.

Return on Equity = Net ProfitOwner's Equity

Since Owner’s equity is the same with current assets, therefore Return on Assets is
the same as Return on Equity, which is 0.248.

41
Since there’re no liabilities in our business, we don’t need to determine Current Ratio
and Liquid Ratio as well.

Asset Turnover = SalesTotal Assets

=850.00700
=1.214

Since Owner’s equity is the same as total assets, Ownership Ratio would be 1.
Our business does not have any debts; hence Debt-to-Equity Ratio is 0.

Critical Risk

The Critical Risks of the Company

1) The month of Ramadan.

 Since the company decided to run business in the month of Ramadan

where the Muslim students are fasting, the company might face
problem with losing customers.

 In order to overcome this problem, the members might want to extent

the business hour based on the situation. If there are people buying
after 7 o’clock in the evening where the company planned to end their
daily business, the members of the company might just extend
business hour to 9 o’clock in the evening in order to cover all range of
customers.

1) Small amount of capital to start the business.

 Since the company had decided to take RM20.00 from every

members of the company to be the capital of the company, it might
just enough to covers the cost and only gains a small amount of profit.

 In order to overcome this problem, the company’s authority had

decided to increase the money collected from all the members to
RM50.00 each. This is to increase the capital of the company so that
the company can get more sources to produce more product for the
customers.

43
2) Competitors

 There are some competitors selling accessories in the colleges, faculty

and also nearby the campus area.

 To overcome this matter, the company’s authorities will be alert to the

competitor’s promotions and prices offered.

 Flyers of the products will be made interestingly through the web

page ( Facebook ) to attract the customers.

 Last but not least, the members will always provide the quality of
product and the best services to the customers who visited the stall.

44
The Harvest Strategy of the Company
The Radiance Shop is made up of 10 members from different background. Every
member of the company plays an important role in running the business. The
members had contributed RM50.00 as the capital of the business in the beginning
running the business. Therefore, each member is said to be the “investor” of the
business. The amount of money which contributed by each member of company will
bring a great return at the end of the business where profits are gain.

In case there are any changes in the management and or the ownership, the
company had come up with a few strategies to solve the problems to make sure that
the business runs smoothly and bring returns to the investor. These strategies might
bring a “win-win” situation to both parties or maybe affected the investor only
without any effect on the business of the Radiance Shop.

1) Changes in the structure of management.

➢ If there is any member of the Radiance Shop decided to leave the company
or the business, there will be a changes in the structure of management.

➢ Below are the structure of management which was arranged before

running the business:

NAME POSITION
Sham Wai Rock Director
Chen Pei Shi Secretary
Yap Pik Ling Assistant Secretary
Seit Kar Mun Financial Manager
Cheong Hoong Jun Sales Executive
Fung Kah Wai Assistant Sales Executive
Chu Er Quan Marketing Manager
Dong Yew Leong Production Manager
Ng Suet Ni Assistant Production Manager
Tan Yeong Zhuang Logistic Manager

45
➢ In the case of any changes in the management’s structure, the members of
the company had made an agreement towards the solution which benefits
the company.

➢ Resignation of the Director.

 If the director of the company decided to resign from the company, the
members of the company agree that the secretary of the company will
replace the director in terms of making decisions.
➢ Resignation of the Secretary and Sales Executive.
 If the secretary of the company which in charge of providing
management assistance for the department of clinical programs and
service decided to resign from the company, the Sales Executive will
take over the Secretary’s works while the Sales Executive’s place will
remain.

 If the Sales Executive of the company which is responsible in

organizing and conducting all the promotion of the product decided to
resign from the company, the assistant of Sales Executive will then
take over the Sales Executive.

 The company’s authority made this decision as both the secretary and
sales executive are in charge of services and promotions which is the
little similarity of works.

➢ Resignation of the Managers of the company.

 If any of the managers decided to resign from the post that were hold
by them in the company, the authority of the company had come up
with a solution where the replacement of the post is being considered.
It will be a replacement where the assistant of the manager will
replace the manager’s place.

46
 This decision was made after taking consideration of the similarity of
works and ability og the members of the Radiance shop.

➢ These arrangements were made by all the members of the company to

make sure that the entire disturbances towards the business are minimize
and do not bring any effect to the business of the company. This might
help in running the business smoothly.
1) Investor exit strategies.
➢ All the members of the company are the investors of the company as every
member contributed RM 50.00 as the starting capital of the Radiance
Shop.

➢ In the case of any member of the company decided to resign from the
company due to any reason, the authority of the company had come up
with a few investors exit strategies.

➢ Exit without getting back the invested money which work as the capital of
the company.
 In order to make sure the business run smoothly, any member who
decided to resign from the company within the period where business
were run agreed that the money that they had invested into the
business will be “burnt”.
 All the members of the company agreed that the invested money shall
remain in the business although the investor chose to leave.
 This is to ensure that the business have enough capital as planned
throughout the run of the business.
 The decisions made is to ensure that the members of the Radiance
Shop are loyal to the company as they will not get back any return if
they do not stay in the company during the run of business by the
company.

47
➢ Exit by getting back the invested money which work as the capital of the
company.
 The invested money by all the members of the company is important
for the business to run smoothly as planned.
 In case any of the members choose to resign from the company with
the reason of financial problems, the authority of the company will
consider of returning all the invested money at the beginning of the
business which is RM 50.00 per investor.
 By this way, it will not bring huge effect towards the company’s
business as the capital needed for the company is only about RM
30.00 which means the company has an extra of capital of about RM
20.00.
 Since the company have enough capital to cover all the cost of source,
it is possible for the company to return the invested money by the
investor to the investor without affecting the business.
 This strategy is only applicable to the member who was proven that
faced financial problems.

48
1) Continuity of business.
➢ In the case of any sudden changes in the business of Radiance shop, the
company’s authority decided a few strategies to ensure the business runs
continuously without meeting any disturbance.

➢ Financial Problems:
 Sometimes, a company might meet some financial problems during
the halfway of the business where they do not have enough capital to
increase the number of product.
 In order to overcome the problems, the authority of the company had
decided to increase the investment of each of the members of the
company from RM 20.00 each to RM 50.00 each.
 Since the company is made up of 10 members, with the investment’s
increment of 150% from RM 20.00 to RM 50.00, the capital of the
company will be increased from RM 200.00 to RM 500.00.
 With the solution, the financial problem which might faced by the
company can be overcome easily without affecting the run of the
business.
 This will ensure that the business run smoothly.

49
➢ Lack of Human Resource.
 The company is made up of 10 members which is a small amount of
members to run a business.
 If the human resource is not enough to cover the needs of the
company, it might cause the slow production and lower quality of
services.

Lesson Learned from Business

Widen Social Network

While running our business, we had widened our social network. We believe that our
professional team members want to see us succeed, so we don’t hesitate to ask each
other for help. We sent out a regular stream of e-mails and cards, and make a lot of
phone calls to those who provide support and referrals – the most valuable business
development resource of all. On the dark days – when nothing seems to be
happening – we take comfort in the fact that we can rehearse the names and faces of
many people who actively wanting to see us succeed. Ultimately, when starting up,
it’s Brand You. Show up and make connections!

Forge good relationship with business dealer.

Business deals are relationships between people. The signed piece of paper is
important, but it is merely the result of the relationship, not the cause. If the
relationship crumbles, the contract won’t save us. Since we know that one of our

51
team members are able to provide us products with wholesale price, so, we make full
use of the chance to reduce our cost in buying stocks.

Develop strong character traits.

The height of our success is determined by our character more than our conditions.
We face our fears to develop courage and build self-discipline. Through this we
found another character in us to succeed in our business. Now, we know that
entrepreneurship is as much about character building as it is about business building.

We do what we love, but be incredibly sure it’s profitable.

If we do work we love, but it doesn’t generate income, our business will fail. If we
do work we hate, but it generates income, your health will fail… and your business
along with it. If we can’t do what we love and make it profitable, we are either got a
hobby or a headache, not a sustainable business. Don’t settle for anything less than
passion and profit. In this case, we are intrinsically and extrinsically motivated.
