You Already Know the Basics…

Most people know how to plan a simple trip in the car to the grocery store. The planning
process happens, usually, at an unconscious level. What you do is, you visualize the
location of the store, and you then mentally “route” yourself to get from where you are to
the store.

It sounds so simple. And it is. Why am I pointing this out to you?

For this reason: The same basic skill of getting from where you are, physically, to another
physical location, is closely related to the skill of setting and achieving a Super
Achievement objective.

There are differences, to be sure. And we’ll cover them in step-by-step detail in this
Special Bonus.

But I wanted to point out that the process of setting an end-point destination (like a grocery
store) and arriving there successfully (getting in your car and driving to the grocery store)
is something you already know how to do.

And this is true whether your end-point destination is the grocery store, the bank, the
airport, a friend’s house, or any other location you could go to in a car.

Yet, in the rest of our lives, the simple skill of focusing on a single destination seems to
have escaped us.

In fact, in most of our everyday experience, we are discouraged from having the kind of
focus I just described.

Perhaps that is why people have difficulty setting clean, simple, focused objectives. But
this Special Bonus is going to fix that problem for you.

Before we go on, let’s explore how life in general dissuades us from being focused. Once
you see this, you’ll realize it’s not really your conscious fault that you’re not, for the most
part, used to focusing the way you need to focus to create a successful SA Objective.

Yet, as you have seen with the grocery store example above, you already know how to pick
a simple objective (get to the store) and achieve it (arrive at the store).

Now, here’s why we have this problem…

How the World Teaches Us to Scatter Our Focus.

Have you ever notice that we’re not taught to focus on a single thing? Television switches
images every few seconds, radio’s filled with sound bytes, newspaper and magazine
articles are usually interspersed with ads that distract you, when driving we’re supposed to
constantly shift our focus…

Yet focusing on a single thing is exactly what you must do in formatting your SA
Objective.

Given the repertoires of “jumping around” unconscious habit patterns most of us have
formed, it’s not surprising to me that most people encounter a lot of blockers while
attempting to formulate their SA Objectives.

That’s one reason I put the Basic Achievement Processes into the book.

So that our users could bootstrap themselves into easily writing properly formatted SA
Objectives.

Unfortunately, based on the Objectives sent to me for review during the first SACP, very
few did that. In most cases, it took at least 3 or 4 cycles of submission and review before
they got it right.

The purpose of this ebook is to make things easier for both of us.

In it, I’m going to explain:

1. How to use the BA Processes to make things easier.

2. Provide fifty examples of properly formatted SA Objectives to assist you in finding

a model for yours.

3. Provide five examples of what doesn’t work so that you can evaluate your
Objective to see whether you’ve made the indicated mistakes.

Once you get the hang of writing properly formatted SA Objectives, I think you’ll find it
pretty simple. Of course, that takes getting past any blockers that might make things more
difficult.

The best way to of getting past those blockers is via the Base Reframing Process.

The typical way is via brute force, banging your head against the wall until one of them
gives way, so to speak.

Page 3
Formatting Objectives and Choosing Key Elements

The reason seems to be that whenever we’re confronted with a primarily conscious mind
process, we forget that the unconscious is still in control. And we unconsciously slip into
old ways of dealing with things.

The intermediate way of dealing with effectively writing an SA Objective is via the BA
Process.

Using the BA Process to Assist You in Generating Your SA Objective.

First, read Chapter 8 and complete the Objectives Process form except for writing your
Objective.

Then:

1. In the back of this bonus ebook, you’ll find a number of examples of effectively
formatted SA Objectives, together with the form in which they were initially
proposed and my comments on how and why they had to be changed. Review them.

2. Pick an effectively formatted Objective that is appropriate to what you’d like to

accomplish and use it as a style model.

3. Set a BA Objective of rapidly and very easily creating an effectively formatted SA

Objective.

4. Prioritize your BA Objective through 10 or so written repetitions.

5. Then write your Objective.

You should rapidly generate an effectively formatted SA Objective.

The total process should take you less than 90 minutes.

Additional Criteria for Properly Formatting Your SA Objective

While the following criteria are consistent with the ones stated in Chapter 8 of the main
book, they detail the areas where most people have difficulties.

Page 4
Formatting Objectives and Choosing Key Elements

1. Set the context from the very outset. Incorporate the full and effective
cooperation of your Success Team.

For example, begin your Objective with: “On or before (specific date), with the full
and effective cooperation of my Success Team, I will have done whatever is
necessary and appropriate so that (the desired specific result has occurred)…”

2. In an SA Objective, you must have only a single, very clear thrust.

Many people are apparently confused by Step 1 on the Objectives Process form that
says, “List the KEY POINTS of one single objective that you want to achieve.”

They apparently miss the “one single objective” or don’t understand what it means.
And, since this is inadequately explained in the text of the book, despite the fact
that the examples are single-focused, many people try to put in many different
thrusts, thus creating multiple different objectives.

Clues to multiple objectives include:

• Multiple sentences each specifying a different result.

• Multiple timeframes.
• Multiple paragraphs.

To be successful utilizing the SA Processes, you must have a single-focus

objective.

One special case of an objective that fails to meet this criterion includes:

“…in ways that leave my life equal to or better than…”

The phrase “or better than” creates an additional objective.

See the examples of initial attempts at writing an SA Objective that incorporate

multiple objectives to understand what it looks like when people try to incorporate
multiple objectives into an SA Objective.

3. An SA Objective must be as simple and clearly stated as possible.

Sentence should be very clear. The subject of each sentence should be “I” to
indicate that you will be doing the doing. If you feel you need multiple paragraphs,
that’s a sign of a multiple objective. Use only a single paragraph.

If you feel that you have to redundantly specify something because it’s so
important, that’s almost certainly due to a blocker. Resolve it before continuing.

Page 5
Formatting Objectives and Choosing Key Elements

If you want to include something complex, like the definition of a Perfect Partner,
do it by reference. See the Perfect Partner Process (Unadvertised Bonus #9) for an
example. Once you have properly defined it, you can include it in your SA
Objective by simply referring to it. For example, “On or before May 13, 2005, with
the full and effective support of my Success Team, I will have found and entered
into a wonderful relationship with my Perfect Partner.

Remember: Simplicity and clarity are essential!

Initially, keep your Objectives very simple with an extremely clear single focus. As
your skill in achieving SA Objectives grow, it’s an indication that your unconscious
is becoming increasingly clear about the process.

At the point that you have successfully achieved 3 or more SA Objectives, you can
gradually increase the complexity of your SA Objectives – still keeping them as
simple as possible.

In the examples toward the end of this Special Bonus, you will find some extremely
clear and simple Objectives and ones that are more complex. Ask your Success
Team to tell you what of these levels of complexity will work for you.

4. Do not include “how’s.” In other words, don’t try to specify how something
will happen. In an SA Objective, you should specify only what you intend to
happen.

By specifying “how’s,” you limit your unconscious creativity to only those things
that you conscious can think of. That’s a tremendous limitation and inappropriate
for an SA Objective.

5. The Objective must be stated in the proper form of the future tense.

In an SA Objective, you are describing a future condition that you intend to

manifest by a specific End-Point Date.

The form of the verb is determined by whether you are describing something that
has taken place prior to the End-Point Date (“I will have done,” “I will have
generated”), something that is as of the End-Point Date (“I will be proud that I have
achieved,” “I will be enthusiastic”) or an instruction to your unconscious (“I will do
this in ways that are for the highest good of me and of all concerned.”)

Copyright 2002, 2004 and 2005 by Stuart A. Lichtman

Page 6
Formatting Objectives and Choosing Key Elements

6. The Objective must be stated in the active voice, never the passive.

The active voice (“I will have done,” “I will have generated”) indicates that you are
doing the doing. The passive voice (“The money will have been generated”)
indicates that someone else is doing the doing.

An SA Objective must always indicate that you are doing the doing.

7. You must NOT assume that your unconscious understands what you
consciously assume is obvious. You must be specific.

You will probably fail to achieve what you assume in an SA Objective. You’ll only
get what you clearly specify.

However, complexity doesn’t work.

If you feel the need to over-specify, you’re probably running into a blocker. If so,
resolve it. However, if you simply need to apply some creativity to generate an
acceptable form of what you want to specify, ask the Creative Part of your
unconscious to assist you. (If you’re ready to try it, the SA Clearing Process is
perfect for this.)

8. Where you use rating scales, the adjectives describing the rating scale must be
the same as the adjectives that you are rating.

For example, suppose you say, “I will do this easily at a level of at least 8 on a scale
where 10 is automatic,” that won’t work so well. Instead, you need to make the
adjectives agree as in, “I will do this easily at a level of at least 8 on a scale where
10 is as easily as I have ever done anything.”

9. Do not use absolutes, including in defining those scales.

Absolutes are words such as “all, every, totally, absolutely, perfectly, and
ultimately” as well as terms such as “without limit.” These are moving targets and,
therefore, inappropriate for defining a scale. What’s more, they are essentially
undefined since you have never experienced an absolute, something that could not
be exceeded.

10. Similarly, eliminate irrelevant data.

Get to the point. Don’t ramble. The clearer your instructions to your unconscious,
the better the chance of getting what you specify.

Page 7
Formatting Objectives and Choosing Key Elements

For example, one initial cut at an SA Objective said, in part, “On or before Saturday
August 2, 2003, I will have done whatever is necessary and appropriate so that I
will be at a healthy lean body weight of 165 lbs, or less. The process of
transforming my body to a healthy lean weight of 165 lbs, or less, will feel exciting
and fun at a level of at least 9 on a scale where 10 is extremely exciting and fun…”

This is redundant and overly complex. Instead, it would be better stated as, “On or
before Saturday August 2, 2003, I will have done whatever is necessary and
appropriate so that I will be at a healthy lean body weight of 165 lbs, or less. The
process of transforming my body to a healthy lean weight of 165 lbs, or less, doing
so will feel exciting and fun at a level of at least 9 on a scale where 10 is extremely
exciting and fun…

11. Eliminate limiting statements. These are statements that are implied “how’s.”

For example, one initial attempt said, “By May 5th, 2003, I will have done
whatever is necessary and appropriate for me to have to have generated at least an
additional $7,500.00 over my usual monthly pay from my job. This amount will
come from my job and other sources to be determined.”

I edited this to eliminate the limiting statement, “By May 5th, 2003, I will have
done whatever is necessary and appropriate for me to have to have generated at
least an additional $7,500.00 over my usual monthly pay from my job. This
amount will come from my job and other sources to be determined.”

What I crossed out limits the possible ways of generating $7,500.00. Don’t limit
your unconscious in this way.

12. An SA Objective must be a single paragraph.

In English, a single paragraph deals with a single idea, a single thrust. A second
paragraph implies a second thrust. This can create unconscious confusion.
Therefore, use only a single paragraph.

If your sense of grammar tells you that you should be using multiple paragraphs,
that can be an indication of multiple objectives. Check carefully.

13. Your True-Self must say that your Objective is for the highest good.

Your True-Self is the reference point for what is for the highest good of you and of
all concerned.

Your SA Objective must be for the highest good of you and all concerned
according to your True-Self.

Copyright 2002, 2004 and 2005 by Stuart A. Lichtman

Page 8
Formatting Objectives and Choosing Key Elements

If you have difficulty locating your True-Self, refer to Unadvertised Bonuses #5

and #6.

14. The proper “insurance” statement to use in your SA Objective is, “I will do
this in ways that are for the highest good of me and of all concerned.”

While the main book uses the phrase, “Please make this happen in ways that are for
the highest good of me and of all concerned,” that’s an older form that’s
appropriate to an Affirmation but not to an Objective.

The “insurance” statement in your Objective must be in the active voice and stated
as a function of your own actions.

15. Once again, your objective must not be more than a 10 in difficulty and must
be a 10 in desirability.

The measures that tell you when you have exceeded a 10 level of difficulty are
rather clear. And if your Objective exceeds this level of difficulty, it is very
unlikely that you will successfully achieve it.

There are two tests. First ask your unconscious whether the difficulty of achieving
your Objective on or before your End-Point Date is more than a 10.

Secondly, read through your Objective a couple of times and then create an
Imaginary Experience of having just successfully achieved your Objective. Tune
that up to a 10 in desirability. Then see if you can hold it for at least 15 seconds.

In other words, daydream about it for 15 seconds.

If it fades in any way, your mind wanders or something else intrudes, the difficulty
is very probably more than a 10.

If the answer to the first test is that the difficulty is no more than a 10 and to the
second test, that it holds absolutely concretely, the difficulty is very probably no
more than a 10.

Reach a conclusion, write it down and ask your unconscious whether that is correct.

If the difficulty is more than a 10, do a Tune-Up process to bring the difficulty to no
more than a 10 while holding the desirability at a 10.

If you feel the need to add statements defining how you will feel after having
achieved your Objective, don’t. If your Objective is a 10 in desirability, you don’t

Copyright 2002, 2004 and 2005 by Stuart A. Lichtman

Page 9
Formatting Objectives and Choosing Key Elements

need that overkill. Instead, tune up your Objective so that it’s a true 10 in
desirability.

If you do that and still feel then need to specify how you’ll feel when you have
achieved your Objective, such as “I will be truly grateful,: resolve the blocker that
generates a lack of confidence that you will be overjoyed when you achieve your
Objective.

Examples of Improperly Formatted First-Try Objectives

Below, I’ve presented a number of examples of my actual responses to actual Objectives
submitted to me by SACP participants for review, their initial attempts at writing SA
Objectives. These are typical in that they violate many of the criteria stated above.

The editing conventions I used are:

• Replacement or added words or phrases are in green.

• Comments within the body of the objective are in red and in [brackets].

• Explanations are below the body of the objective in red.

• Deleted words or phrases are in black and crossed out.

1. Recruiting MLM Associates.

By May 5th 2003 I will have presented (specific MLM company) business and marketing
plan to at least 800 people in such convincing and appealing way that at least 65 people
will have signed up (2,500 points) [As what? You’re assuming that your unconscious
knows what you intend. That’s a dangerous assumption that usually leads to failure to
achieve what you assume. Please specify]. In the process I have created at least 5 personal

Formatting Objectives and Choosing Key Elements

Directors to qualify me for a Senior Director as indicated by the certificate in my hand.

[This is either a second objective or a “how”. Neither works. Check with your
unconscious.] As a Senior Director I am able to purchase a brand new BMW which
(specific MLM company) is making payments for every month. [Definitely another
objective.] As a result of becoming a Senior Director my income is at least $4,500 per
month plus bonuses which in turn enables me to bring my mortgage current and pay all
my monthly bills effortlessly and in timely manner. [Still another objective.] I am will be
extremely pleased with the outcome of my efforts and ecstatically happy achieving such
success. Please, make this happen I will do this in ways that are for the highest good of
me and of all concerned.

Have you checked difficulty by the process I described during the teleseminar? Please do
so again, even if you have already and don’t delude yourself. My unconscious has sent up
a red flag. If your difficulty is more than a 10, negotiate with your unconscious to identify
a version of your Objective that is no more than a 10 in difficulty AND is a 10 in
desirability.

My changes and comments are to:

1. Put all verbs in the future tense. An SA Objective is a statement of your intention
for your future. Those, all verbs must be in some form of the future tense.

2. Eliminate irrelevant data (2,500 points).

3. Eliminate assumptions. What you assume in an SA Objective, you usually won’t

get.

4. Eliminate multiple Objectives. Perhaps, if your intent is to become a Senior

Director, you should make that the focus on your Objective. In that case, the
recruitment part becomes a “how” and should be eliminated from your Objective.
If, on the other hand, you intent is a certain amount of money per month, that
should be the primary focus. In any case, you can only put one primary focus in
each SA Objective.

5. Change the “insurance” statement so that it is a statement of personal responsibility.

(I know this is different from the book but it works better this way.)

2. Completing a Novel

By May 5th, 2003 I will have done all things necessary and appropriate to complete the
restructure of my novel [name or otherwise specifically identify the novel] to a level of 8
where 10 represents totally extremely satisfied based on my conscious and unconscious
reserve of knowledge of story structure that I have absorbed thru years of reading. [It

Page 22
Formatting Objectives and Choosing Key Elements

doesn’t matter why you are satisfied. If “satisfied” doesn’t do it for you, choose another
word or phrase but don’t elaborate with unnecessary material that will confuse your
unconscious about your primary intent.] I will have incorporated joyfully and diligently
incorporated all major recommendations of my editor whose experience and assistance I
am grateful for and both value and respect. [Same as before. Keep your eye on the main
ball. It looks like you’re trying to sneak in a second objective of finding a specific type of
editor.] I will do this in ways that nurture the my mental, emotional and physical well-being
of myself and my family such that I prioritise at least 3 blocks of time each week during the
day of at least 4 hours uninterrupted duration. Over six weeks I will have allocated at least
72 hours to this task. [This is a “how” or another objective. Neither belongs here.] On or
before May 5th When I will hold the manuscript and I will feel a great sense of
accomplishment knowing that I have successfully organised my material into a flowing,
satisfying whole. Please make this or something better happen for the highest good of me
and of all concerned.

The key is to have a single, very clear objective that focuses on your own actions. Do not
use the 3rd tense, use the 1st. Do not include “how’s”. Include only the essence of what you
really desire. And make sure that things are consistent.

3. Generating Income through a Business

By 5th May 2003 I will have done whatever is necessary and appropriate to generate I will
have at least an additional £50,000 in my (specific account, specific bank) account. At a
level of 9 1/2 where 10 is totally confident this amount. [If you have the money in the bank,
what’s there to feel confident about? This is confusing.] This will take place I will do this
in ways that are for the highest good of me and all concerned and I will feel joy enthusiasm
and optimism about this. This will happen I will do this in ways which will leave my
health happiness and financial conditions better than at least equal to when I set the
objective. [“Better” would be another objective.]

My changes and comments are to:

1. Make this very clearly a result of your own actions.

2. Put things in the future tense. An objective is a statement of what you intend in the
future. The End-Point Success Image and Affirmation is a present-tense experience
and description of what things will be like when that intent is realized.

3. Keep it a single objective.

Also, have you done a test to ensure that the difficulty is no more than a 10? If not, please
do and revise accordingly if it is.

4. Earning Income by Providing Consulting Services

I will do On or before May 5, 2003 I will have done whatever is reasonable and appropriate
to earn and receive at least $60,000 by the 5th May 2003. I will see each of my 4 credit
card statements showing a nil balance owing and I will have a credit balance of at least
$10,000 remaining in my business cheque account after paying all my bills. [This is all
redundant to the $60,000 and, therefore, inappropriate for inclusion. It is a statement of
how you will use the money. If you need to set an objective for that, it must be a separate
objective.] At least 80%, 8 in 10, of my clients provide me with strong written
testimonials within 24hours, when I request them. These clients are clearly satisfied with
my services at a level of at least 8.5 where 10 is very enthusiastic. At least 80%, 8 in 10,
recommend further clients to me, either family of friends, within 14days of using my
services. [These are additional objectives or “how’s,” neither of which have a place in this
Objective.] I will have provided these services accomplished this easily with an ease at a
level of no more than 4, at least 6 where 10 is so easy that it is almost automatic. I am will
be joyful and enthusiastic to at a level of at least 8.5, where 10 is incredibly joyful and
enthusiastic ecstatic at the end of each day. I will easily and consistently maintain a daily
log of all these measures. Please make this happen I will do this in ways that are for the
highest good of me and for all concerned.

The changes and suggestions I made are to:

1. Immediately set the temporal context.

2. Set the context that limits your efforts to what is “reasonable and appropriate”.

3. Eliminate “how’s” and multiple objectives. An SA Objective must have a single

very clear focus and no “how’s” since the latter restrict unconscious creativity. If
your intention is to generate $60,000 by the indicated date, that must be the single
clear focus of your objective. Do not specify how you will get there IN YOUR
OBJECTIVE. If, once having translated the Objective into a Target, you have the
thought that you should plan, etc., just do that. But such planning must not be part
of the Objective.

4. Make what you are rating agree with your rating scale and make what you want the
high end of the rating scale.

5. Change the “insurance” statement into a statement of personal responsibility. (Yes,

I know this is different from the book but this form is better.)

5. Generating Income in an Unspecified Manner

Copyright 2002, 2004 and 2005 by Stuart A. Lichtman

Page 24
Formatting Objectives and Choosing Key Elements

By May 5th, 2003, I will have done whatever is necessary and appropriate for me to have
to have generated at least an additional $7,500.00 over my usual monthly pay from my job.
This amount will come from my job and other sources to be determined. [This is limiting
and adds nothing.] I will have accomplished this easily, at a level of no more than a 6
where a 10 is very difficult easy, and by spending no more than 2 hours per day over my
regular job hours [Define what they are either times or where you work; don’t assume that
your unconscious knows what you’re talking about. Be specific.]. I will be satisfied and
happy with my efforts and results at a level of at least 9 on a scale where 10 is totally
extremely satisfied and happy. This will happen I will do this in ways that are for the
highest good of me and of all people concerned.

My edits were to:

1. Demonstrate that you are producing the result.

2. Eliminate an irrelevant statement.

3. Make your rating scale agree with what you are rating. You assumed that your
unconscious puts difficult at the other end of easy.

You need to define your work hours. You can do it, for example, “…regular job hours
working at xyz company as (job title)” or “from 8AM to 6PM, Monday through Friday”…
etc.

Choosing Key Elements

The Target Process is a way of translating your SA Objective from the conscious domain
into the three primary unconscious domains.

Each of these other three domains is present in all of your memories, at least in the form
they are held in your unconscious: patterns, rhythms, synthesis; emotions; physical
stimulus-response.

Therefore, when you Tune-Up your associated memory to perfectly demonstrate what you
mean by a key element, you are automatically creating an imaginary experience, a
definition in all of the primary unconscious languages.

When each of these imaginary experiences in anchored in your IAP and combined with the
words that make up the associated key elements, you have created a clear unconscious
definition of what you mean by that element of your SA Objective.

Copyright 2002, 2004 and 2005 by Stuart A. Lichtman

Page 25
Formatting Objectives and Choosing Key Elements

When all of these clearly defined key elements are combined into the structure of your SA
Objective, you have created a clear unconscious Target.

And because you have done so via your IAP, your Target and all of the component key
elements are highly prioritized.

When you instruct your unconscious to give you an experience of having just successfully
achieved your, now clearly defined, SA Objective and Tune-Up the results to a 10, you
have created your End-Point Success Image.

And when you refine the path to realization of your Target by doing the Time-Tripping
Process, an element of the Target Process, you have created a substantially more direct
route to achievement of your SA Objective.

As you can see, the Target Process is a very powerful combination of steps 1 and 2 of the
SA Three-Step Process.

How to Identify Key Elements and Associated Memories.

Identifying your Key Elements and associated memories is a balancing act. The Key
Element must be large enough to define an important aspect of your SA Objective and
small enough to be approximated by a single memory.

Therefore, this is an iterative – or a back and forth – process. You first define a proposed
Key Element. Then you ask you unconscious to identify a relevant memory, via your IAP.

After evaluating the memory or memories your unconscious proposes, you may find that
single memory doesn’t adequately cover the Key Element that you first proposed. So your
task is to break the proposed Key Element into two or more pieces, each now becoming a
Key Element that is adequately approximated by one of your memories.

Or, your unconscious might propose a memory that includes two or more of what you had
initially defined as Key Elements and you, therefore, combine them into one.

Here’s an example from my SA Objective for the first SACP training:

“On or before February 27, 2003, I will have done whatever is necessary and appropriate to
have enrolled 106 people in the SACP…”

Key elements:

Copyright 2002, 2004 and 2005 by Stuart A. Lichtman

Page 26
Formatting Objectives and Choosing Key Elements

• February 27, 2003.

• I will have done whatever is necessary and appropriate.
• 106 people.
• SACP.

Key Elements and Associated memories:

• February 27, 2003: Calendar in lower right of tray in my computer window.

• I will have done whatever is necessary and appropriate: What I did to put together
funding for the LoopSounds venture.

• 106 people: a CT training group of about 150 people in Santa Monica.

• SACP: my outline of the SACP.

Breaking a Proposed Key Element into Two.

What if I had memories of doing what’s necessary but not what’s necessary and
appropriate?

And what if I also had memories of doing what’s appropriate but not necessary?

I would break the Key Element into two Key Elements:

• I will have done whatever is necessary.

• I will have done whatever is appropriate.

It’s that simple.

What if I Don’t Have a Relevant Associated Memory?

What if you can’t come up with a personal memory that approximates what you mean by a
Key Element?

Pick something that you have seen someone else do that resonated with you, whether a real
life example or something from a movie or TV or a mental picture that you created when
reading a book.

If that experience resonated with you, if seemed real to you, if you felt a personal
identification with it, you can use it as an appropriate starting point for creating an
imaginary experience that defines what you intuitively mean by your Key Element.

Tuning-Up the Associated Memories so that they Perfectly Define What

You Intuitive Mean by Your Key Elements.
By now, you should be pretty adept at Tuning-Up Imaginary Experiences.

Here’s how you apply that skill to tuning up your associated memory.

1. In your imagination, modify your associated memory into a “perfect” example of what
you intuitively mean by your Key Element.

2. On a 1 to 10 scale, rate how perfectly the resultant Imaginary Experience defines what
you intuitively mean by your Key Element.

3. If your rating is less than a 10, on a clean piece of paper, write down how your
Imaginary Experience must be changed to become a 10 – what must be added,
subtracted or otherwise changed.

4. Focus on your IAP and ask your unconscious to make the changes you have just
defined on paper to create an Imaginary Experience that perfectly represents what you
mean by your associated Key Element.

5. Repeat steps 2 through 5 until you have created an Imaginary Experience that perfectly
represents what you intuitively mean by your associated Key Element.

6. When your rating is a 10, surround the Imaginary Experience with a ball of white light
and anchor it in your IAP. Then read into your IAP the exact wording of your Key
Element and imagine the Key Element and the Imaginary Experience merging.

Summary of Identifying Key Elements and Associated Memories.

Establish enough key elements to very precisely define things for your unconscious.

Remember: A Key Element is the specific set of words in your objective that:

• Must be very clearly defined in your unconscious in order for you to fully achieve your
objective.

• Is appropriately approximated by a memory you have.

Sometimes, you will have to go back and forth between isolating written key elements and
coming up with appropriate memories until you get a good fit.

It is important, however, to keep the territory that is covered by a single key element
limited to what you can grasp in an approximate fashion in an associated memory.

IMPORTANT: One of the most frequent mistakes of first time users of the SA process is to
use too few key elements. So here's a rule of thumb:

• Try to use no fewer than 8 key elements and, preferably, use 10-12.

In writing about the associated memory on your Target Process form, all you have to put is
enough to clearly remind you of the memory, so that when you read what you have written,
you’ll easily recall the memory.

In some cases, to help frame and sharpen your awareness of the memory and help you to
reframe it to perfectly describe what you intuitively mean by the key element, you can do
what is, in effect, a written Metastory process with the memory being the As-Is and the
Perfect Alternative being the related imaginary experience that perfectly represents what
you intuitively mean by the key element.

The key is that, before anchoring the imaginary experience that represents what you mean
by the associated written key element, it perfectly illustrates what you intuitively mean by
that key element.
