Post Graduate Programme (2010-2012)


ISTTM offers a two year full time Masters in Telecom Management
programme with integrated and updated curriculum under the semester
system with quantitative and qualitative emphasis aiming at development of
analytical, communication skills and business knowledge required for
successful Managerial careers.

Academic Programme
The academic program is divided into Foundation Programme followed by
four semesters consisting of minimum 6 courses each.

The students are supplied with course outline consisting of course objective
and course content divided into modules. A session plan is also provided
containing day to day topic to be covered in each session along with
exercises, case studies, carry home assignments, tests, quizzes and other
pedagogical materials.

The student must undergo two semester course of study consisting of 14 to


16 weeks in a semester in one academic year and four semester course of
study in two academic years.

Scheme of examinations and evaluations:


For each course the examination pattern consists of internal assessment and
semester examinations. The internal assessment is for 50 marks, consisting
of Mid Semester test for 25 marks, case discussions, class participations and
presentations for 25 marks. A minimum of 20 marks to be obtained by the
student to qualify the internal assessment and appear for the semester end
examinations.

Guidelines for Award of Marks:


Student is graded based on the marks secured by her/him in each course
and the final grade will be given based on the grade points obtained for the
respective courses in all semesters by adopting 10 point scale. Student has
to secure a minimum of 35 in both internal and semester end exams for
passing a course. The academic performance of a student is assessed in
terms of grades in different courses.

Examination Rules
a) A minimum of 90% attendance by a student is required to become
eligible to write semester end examinations.

b) Students should assemble in the examinations hall before the


commencement of the examination and shall not be allowed to write
the exam, if he /she is late by 5 minutes.

c) Students indulging in copying or any other malpractice in the


examinations shall be debarred from the examinations.

d) Mobile phones, Memory banes cum calculators, palmtop etc are


prohibited inside the examination hall. Those who are found with
mobiles will be sent out of the examinations hall.

e) If a student fails or absent in any semester end examinations he/she


has to apply and reappear supplementary examinations along with
their juniors on payment of examination fees.

Schedule of classes and Attendance

a) Classes are scheduled from 9.30A.M to 6.00P.M on all working


days with 30 mins tea break from 11.30 A.M to 11.45 A.M and 3.30
P.M to 3.45 P.M and lunch break 1 hour from 12.30p.m to 1.30 p.m.

b) Attendance during seminars, guest lecturers, presentations and


other academic programmes etc is compulsory. The time-table,
scheduling and daily classes for the entire semester will be
circulated at the beginning of each semester.

Rules and Regulations


a) Students of the institute are required to abide by all the rules,
regulations and instructions that may be issued by the Institute
authorities from time to time.

b) Please refer to Students Manual for further details on disciplinary


procedures.

Payment of Fees
a) Student is required to pay the semester fees on or before the
stipulated date.

b) If student fails to pay the fees on or before the last date notified
his/her name is liable to be removed from the rolls and he/she shall
not be permitted to attend the classes.

Code of Conduct
a) Mobile phones are to be switched off in the campus.

b) Students shall at all times conduct himself/herself

c) Ragging of any kind is prohibited and liable for punishment as per


GO.Ms.No.67 date 31-08-2002.

d) The conduct of the students in classes as well as in the premises of


the institute shall be such as to cause no disturbance to fellow
students or to other classes.

e) Students should carry their identify badges while in the campus.

f) Use of intoxicants, attending classes under the influence of


intoxicants is strictly prohibited.

g) Smoking/Chewing tobacco is strictly prohibited in the campus.

h) Students should take proper care of the institute’s property and


help in keeping the premises neat and clean. Any damage done to
the property of the institute will have to be replaced by the students
concerned.

i) Meetings, functions, programmes etc of the institute should be


organized /conducted under the supervision’s and control of the
director.

j) Any breach of conduct or willful acts of indiscipline is liable for


punishment or dismissal.

k) Students should not write or communicate with anyone relating to


the institute in a manner derogatory to the dignity of the institute or
their programme of their studies without first brining the matter to
the notice of the Director.

l) If for any reasons, the continuance of a student is considered


detrimental to the discipline of the institute, the Director with the
opinion of the faculty, may dismiss the student from the Institute.

m) Students are expected to wear formal dress on all working days.

n) Students should in their interest read the notices placed on the


notice boards from time to time.

o) Students should be punctual to the classes and should assemble


before the commencement of the classes.
