Austria’s Official Cycle Routes

There are some wonderful bike routes in Austria; these are mostly off the main roads
along specially built routes and agricultural roads.

http://www.radtouren.at/alias/en/radtouren This site lists all the major cycle routes in

Austria. All the routes are well sign posted.

This is a typical sign from the Tauern bike route, coloured green
and white. There are some other bike routes shown on the bottom.
This could be confusing! If you see a red and white signed bike
route, it’s a mountain bike route.

Some bike routes pass through towns and villages and have the
most wonderful bathing facilities - ideal if you like to sunbathe or
swim at the end of the day or just want a day off from being in the
saddle.

There are also bike friendly hotels all the way along the routes with
signs outside. (See image below)

The local tourist offices in the villages and towns that

you pass through will help with accommodation
information. Camping is generally very good along the
routes. Transport is also most user-friendly and a lot of
these routes follow railway lines. So if you are in need of
getting to the start or finishing early you can load your
bike onto the train to get you to where you need to be.
The train staff are very helpful.

Here is a list of Austria’s principal cycle routes:

1. Innradweg – length 517Kms
