Temporary life vs.

Eternal life
Allah created us all and He did not give us life forever. Our death is not in our hands, we can’t control when we die. If
a person were to restrict his timeline to this life, they would become hopeless and always fear death. But Allah did
give us hope that there is a real and everlasting life, the life in the hereafter.

Allah says:

And this worldly life is not but diversion and amusement. And indeed, the home of the Hereafter – that is the

[eternal] life, if only they knew.

[Surah Al-Ankaboot, 29:64]

That is where we will see the real winners and losers. The stars and celebrities that T.V. tells us today are
winners are not necessarily the winners on that day.
The good news for righteous people
Allah says:

So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, “Here, read my record! Indeed, I was certain that

I would be meeting my account.” So he will be in a pleasant life – In an elevated garden, Its [fruit] to be picked

hanging near. [They will be told], “Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past.”

[Surah Al-Haqqah, 69:19-24]

When a good person will receive their book in their right hand, their face will light up like the full moon and their family
and friends will come rushing to them, rejoicing with them. But for the evil person, Allah goes on to say

The bad news for evil people

Allah says:

But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, “Oh, I wish I had not been given my record And

had not known what is my account. I wish my death had been the decisive one. My wealth has not availed me.

Gone from me is my authority.” [ Allah will say], “Seize him and shackle him. Then into Hellfire drive him. Then

into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him.”

[Surah Al-Haqqah, 69:25-32]

When an evil person receives their book in their left hand, their face will become grim and dark, and everyone around
them will want to run away from them.

The extraction of the soul for good people

For a righteous person before their death, beautiful angels come to them with a purified cloth from Jannah and Malik
al Mawt (the angel of death) calls “Oh you soul in (complete) rest and satisfaction!” (Surah Al-Fajr 89:27). The soul
will peek out to see a beautiful creatures in front of it. The soul is thenremoved smoothly from the body (Surah Al-
Naziat, 79:2) and raised to the heavens. It carries such as abeautiful smell as it is raised that the inhabitants of the
heavens (angels) ask “who is this that is being raised?” The soul then goes up to meet the angels in the first heaven
and they welcome and greet the soul, and are rejoiced to meet it. This way the soul is raised to each of the 7 heavens
until it reaches Allah. Allah writes the soul in illiyeen (Surah Al-Mutaffifeen, 83:18), the register of Allah for the
righteous people. The soul is then returned to the grave for a pleasant time.
The extraction of the soul for evil people
For an evil person, the angels that come to them are dark and scary, with dark blue eyes with black sacs of fire. Malik
al Mawt (the angel of death) says “Oh you wretched and evil soul“. The soul of this person becomes scared and
resists coming out of the body. So Malik al Mawt calls to his angels and they bring a hammer with a spiky ball at the
end, like a mace. The soul clings to every single joint in the body, from the foot to the ankle to the knee. Whenever it
clings, they swing the hammer and smash it away. In this way, the soul is extracted from the body in a violent and
painful way (Surah Al-Naziat, 79:1). Then they bring the soul up through the heavens. The soul is smelly and
filthy and the dwellers of the heavens call it the worst nickname it had. It reaches the first heaven and the angels say
“we do not want you to pass, go away from here”. Allah calls on them to put the soul in the record of sijjeen (Surah Al-
Mutaffifeen, 83:7), the register of Allah for the evil people. The soul is then returned to the grave for torment.
A description of the foliage of Jannah
Abu Huraira asked the Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam):

Abu Huraira: What did Allah make everything in this world from?

The Prophet: Water.

Abu Huraira: What did Allah make jannah from?

The Prophet: The bricks of the palaces of Jannah are made from gold and silver, the mortar in between to hold

them from musk, the dirt saffron, the stones from pearls, emeralds and diamonds. Whoever is allowed to enjoy

it, they will have joy and happiness without end, a life without death.
Abu Saeed Al-Khudri narrates that The Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) said:

In Paradise, there is a tree under the shadow of which a rider of a fine and swift-footed horse would travel for a

hundred years without covering the distance completely

[Sahih Muslim, Book 40 (Kitab Al-Jannah), Hadith 6786]

There will not be only one of these trees, but a dense foliage, thousands of them, as Allah describes “And
gardens of thick growth” (Surah An-Naba 78:16).
The Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) is reported to have said:

There is not a tree in Jannah that it’s trunk is not made of solid gold.

[Sahih Al-Jami Al-Sagheer, Hadith 5523]

The state of the people entering Jannah

Muadh Ibn Jabal narrates that the Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) said:

The people of Jannah will enter Jannah jurdun (without unessesary body hair) murdun (without facial
hair) mukahaleen (with beautified faces having permanent surma on their eyes). All the people will be the age of 33.
[Sahih Al Jami, Hadith 7928]
The sight of Allah for the people of Jannah
The companions of the Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) asked:

Companions: Do we get to see Allah in Jannh?

The Prophet: Do you have any difficulty seeing the full moon on the 14th day?

Companions: No, oh Prophet.

The Prophet: Just like that, you will see Allah in Jannah.

[Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 93 (Kitab At-Tawhid), Hadith 532c]

The adornments of the people of Jannah

Allah says:

Those will have gardens of perpetual residence; beneath them rivers will flow. They will be adorned therein

with bracelets of gold and will wear green garments of fine silk and brocade, reclining therein on adorned

couches. Excellent is the reward, and good is the resting place.

[Surah Al-Kahf, 18:31]

So the men will wear what they were not allowed to in this world, thick silk brocades and gold bracelets. Only Allah
knows the beauty of jewelry reserved for women in Jannah.

The blessings of Jannah

The Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) is reported to have said:

If only a portion of dust from jannah entered this world, the whole world would light up.
The Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) is reported to have said:

If a man from jannah put his arm in this world and a portion of his bracelet shone in this world, it would put out the

light of the sun like the sun puts out the light of the stars on daybreak.
The pleasure of Allah for the people of Jannah
Abu Saeed Al-Khudri narrates that the Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) said that Allah will say to the dwellers of
Paradise:

Allah: Oh Dwellers of Paradise

Dwellers of Paradise: At thy service and pleasure, our Lord, the good is in Thy Hand.

Allah: Are you well pleased now?

Dwellers of Paradise: Why should we not be pleased, O Lord, when Thou hast given us what Thou hast not given to

any of Thy creatures?

Allah: May I not give you (something) even more excellent than that?

Dwellers of Paradise: 0h Lord, what thing can be more excellent than this?

Allah: I shall cause My pleasure to alight upon you and I shall never be afterwards annoyed with you.
[Sahih Muslim, Book 40 (Kitab Al-Jannah), Hadith 6787]

With this, the people of Jannah will live in extreme bliss, although they thought it couldn’t get any better. They will live
with their Lord pleased with them, and they pleased with their Lord, forever.
Allah says:

Their reward with Allah will be gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide

forever, Allah being pleased with them and they with Him. That is for whoever has feared his Lord.

[Surah Al-Bayyinah, 98:8]

Jannah is the Goal

Allah says:

And that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do.

[Surah Al-Zukhruf, 43:72 & Surah Al-Araf, 7:43]

This is what the strivers strive for.

Allah says:

So for this let the competitors compete
