very minute of every day, someone needs blood. That blood can only come from
a volunteer donor, a person like you who makes the choice to donate. There is
no substitute for your donation.

Donating blood or conducting a blood drive can:

1.m Saves up to 18 lives per year.

2.m Saves up to 3 different people with different needs

Blood donor:

1.m Can donate blood 6 times annually.

a.m Blood divided into 3 components (red blood cells, plasma, platelets)
2.m Can become re-eligible, every 8 weeks (56 days).

Process of Blood Transfusion:

1.m Register to a blood donor center

2.m Quick check up of
a.m Temperature
b.m Pulse
c.m Blood pressure
d.m Blood count
3.m Afterwards with a brief needle prick, wait for 10 minutes while your blood is
collected
Ã.m Feel free to help yourself to orange juice and cookies after completing your
donation.

school and college newspapers with a note urging them to let their readers
know that minimum age for blood donation is only 17 years.
5.m Include a red heart in our seasonal cards urging friends and family to
give the gift of life by donating blood since Blood donations is low during
winter holidays.
6.m Give briefings to our clients on how to organize a blood drive (ample of
time) and cord blood donation (Expecting a Child).
7.m Build websites to register our clients, if needed can notify with the blood
group required.
8.m Maintain a health as well as a survival record of the members annually.
9.m Appoint a head member every month based on the blood profile.
10.mProvide patient details.

m Can save critically ill patients suffering from leukemia, lymphoma and
more than 70 other diseases.

A Blood Donation drive

m Organizing a blood drive with 10 people can save up to 30 lives as each

unit of donated blood can be served for at least 3 live saving purposes

m Red blood cells are used for surgery, kidney dialysis, and to treat
anemia.
m Plasma is used to treat burn victims and patients in shock.
m Platelets are used for surgery, and to treat leukemia, as well as other
forms of cancer.
