SU BJ E C T : M y Immediate Resignation from the A L ES Unit Negotiating Team
DA T E: A pril 22, 2011

I would like to express that I am extremely disturbed in the recent on goings on the A L ES Unit Contract
Negotiations and Interest A rbitration E xecutive Session and the way that they have been handled by the staff
members of Council 82.

Upon Tom Smith retiring, I was placed on to the A L ES Negotiating T eam. M y involvement was limited to the

the A L ES Negotiating Team members were led to believe that there were legal arguments occurring regarding
G O E R!"#()*+)"&#&,#(),-)%#&.)#$%&)()"&#'(/$&('&$,n hearings to introduce new evidence. O n A pril 13 th, the press
published news stories inclusive of a quote from you stating:

L ater that same day we hear the news, not from Council 82, but from our members that a deal was reached. None
of these agreed upon terms were ever part of the A L ES Unit Negotiating T eam plan. L ater that afternoon, Council
82 Staff Director Dick Stevens informed me that we would again be having a debriefing on A pril 18th. M yself,
along with the other team members were given limited and misleading information regarding this agreement. O n
A pril 18th, the team was provided the information of the 0secret deal1 that was reached with Governor C uomo!s
negotiators. As you should recall during this meeting, the team members were spoken down to, yelled at, and
accused of many accusations. W hen I inquired on why were not informed of the A pril 12th signed agreement, the
very same day and just prior to the SU N Y L abor M anagement M eeting, Dick Steven!s response to withholding
this important information was: !Gbecause I Cm pissed at you guys!1

Now once again, Council 82!s E nnio Corsi posted a memo on your website, 0C larification 2 A L ES 2 Proposed
Contract C hanges1. M yself and many other team members were once again ignored opposed to sharing this
update. W hen did Council 82 declare martial law over the A L ES Unit?

I am personally disgusted with the conduct of Council 82!s staff members and I refuse to be associated in any way
with the collective bargaining mess. T his is not how contracts should be done.

W hat that said, I resign immediately from the A L ES Negotiating team. It appears that I never was part of this
team other than representing a 03'445+61#for when this goes sour. I have spoken with Local 635 E xecutive V ice
President Scott Bingham and he is willing to replace me as the SU N Y Supervisor M ember of this team for the
A L ES Unit. Scott said he is willing to keep an open mind wor k with Council 82. I wished him the best of luck!
