The author, Fahmida Rashid of an online newspaper eWeek, uses data from a speech given by
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton which outlined a new Internet freedom policy that will
guarantee dissidents and human rights activists access to the "world's town square" while
justifying recent United States actions on online security and privacy. The article also includes
information on the WikiLeaks controversy and how the case may have actually involved theft.
This article includes direct quotes which was important to proving validity of the article. In
addition portions of Clinton's speech which related directly to the internet censorship problem at
hand were included in this article. Clinton specifically notes in this article that ³It would be near
impossible to speak about internet freedom without addressing the diplomatic cables WikiLeaks
posted last November, Clinton addressed it head-on. This source uses Clinton¶s quotes to prove
that internet freedom is able to happen despite problems with government information being
released. She states that WikiLeaks was a case of theft. "Government documents were stolen,
just the same as if they had been smuggled out in a briefcase," she said. "The fact that Wikileaks
used the Internet is not the reason we criticized it," she said. This quote made this source a
viable one for the viewpoint being taken on.c

involved. This key piece of information makes this source a valuable one in researching the
effects of censorship on war, in addition to general government censorship. This source was
made a viable one because of the specific pieces of information on censorship in wars. The
