Dear Sally,
Thank you for your letter which I received this
morning. I am delighted to learn that your father
has been offered a job in Singapore and you will be
coming along with your parents next year.
WELCOME to Singapore.
I think you will enjoy this country that literally
has everything for you. Let me tell you something
about our weather, unlike other countries, we
don’t have four seasons. It’s either rain or shine.
As for communication, you will have no
problem if you can speak English because most
Singapore understand and speak English
Traveling in Singapore is not only safe and
convenient but affordable too. We have enough
efficient bus services and Mass Rapid Transit
System (MRT) to take you around the island. We
have limousine taxi comprising of Mercedes Benz
with fluent English speaking drivers. London taxi
services and norm air –condition taxi are available.
Of course, the price is more expensive than taking
buses or MRT.
There are plenty places of interest in
Singapore. For instance Singapore River is much
maintained and superbly decorated river in Asia.
You can take a bumboat and travel along the river
to view the Singapore’s spectacular skyline. You
will also see the brightly lighted Merlion at night
which is a statue of a half lion and half fish, with
water spout coming from its mouth. It is well-
known landmark of our country stands at the
entrance of the river.
There are also famous places like Chinatown,
Little India, and Malay Village with attractively
renovated heritage buildings and beautifully

decorated streets reflecting the history cultures
and different races in Singapore.
There are lots of modern shopping malls and
hotels along Orchard Road. But don’t forget our
very own mouth watering Singapore food. It’s very
good and reasonably price. Western food, Chinese
food, Moslem food, Japanese food, and other
international food, are found everywhere in
Orchard Road. You can shop to your heart’s
content and enjoy varieties of foods without
getting bored.
That’s not all, there are many other very
interesting places that you will love to visit in
Singapore. I will keep these as mystery places for
you. Let me be your personal tour guide. Just
write to me or give me a call when you are in
Singapore. I’ll assure you of a marvelous time
during your stay here.
