“India as Manufacturing Hub”

India is fast emerging as a global manufacturing hub with a large number of companies shifting
their manufacturing base to the country. The new Consolidated Foreign Direct Investment
Policy has come into effect from April 1, 2010. Government is also planning to establish
National Manufacturing and Investment Zones, which would act as the key enablers in driving
the growth of the manufacturing sector in India, to make the country a hub for both domestic
and international markets. India is the best place for cheap, but well educated and English
speaking professionally qualified people. India is specialized in software and its IT services are
at par with any of the developed nations. India is a country with more than a billion people and
is a huge market for western manufacturers. India is at the cusp of a growth phase that is
being fuelled by internal demand, as well as an increase in demand from capital-starved West.

The conference welcomes papers and case studies from academicians, industrial engineers,
business and corporate professionals on the related issues and sub-themes.

GOA

Goa a tiny emerald land on the west coast of India, the 25th State in the Union
States of India, was liberated from Portuguese rule in 1961. It was part of Union
territory of Goa, Daman & Diu, till 30th May 1987 when it was carved out to form
a separate state.

Goa emerged as a major destination for international and domestic tourists after
1498, when Portuguese navigator Vasco De Gama sailed down the Malabar Coast
in search of Christians and spices.

Goa is located on the western coast of India between the seas and lush green-
forested hills. It is popularly known as “Rome of the East”, “Tourist Paradise” and
“Pearl of the Orient”. The state includes a gamut of irresistible tourist’s attractions
in the form of scenic charm, beckoning coconut palms, mesmerizing sunset,
majestic churches, flourishing temples, wonderful beaches, glistening sands,
cultural festivals, and the mouth watering cuisine.

Goa goes much beyond the sensuous beaches and natural beauty. Many religious
and cultural aspects are linked to the state that reminds of the legacy of human
history. It also has a number of beautiful historical forts that the Portuguese rulers
left behind.

Goa is best known for its beaches and most tourist attractions are centred around
4 towns namely Panaji, Margaon, Vasco and Ponda. The weather is quite pleasant
throughout the year.
